Confused on which dress to buy.. Opinions please!

Recommended Posts

Hi girls!  I will be getting married in Jamaica on Sept. 2, 2013.. It's getting down to the wire in regards to the dress and I need to make a decision, but I stuck!! I purchased THIS dress, which looks absolutely amazing in person- the design doesnt stand out so much, and has delicate beading so that it would glitter like crazy in the sun (getting married on beach), but it's more of a church dress.

After I made my purchase, I fell in love with THIS dress, which is what I wanted all along. (Flowy, empire waist)  I put my order in a few days ago, so I know theres still time to switch..

wow, two very different dresses!!! honestly, there's no right or wrong answer here.

The "rules" about a church dress vs. a beach dress are a myth - so many brides on here have worn what could be called a "church dress", and it's been absolutely stunning on the beach (myself included!). Others have gone the more "beach dress" route and have been stunning too! It's totally about your preference.

which dress do you see yourself walking down the aisle wearing? what about after the ceremony?

Allie is absolutely right. I too chose a dress that is best suited for a formal/church wedding, and I love everything about it. I think what matters most is the feelings/emotions that are evoked when you have it on and not necessarily which one you like best based on looks alone.  Which dress do you feel like a birde in?

Have you tried on the second dress? I really wanted a flowy dress for my destination wedding but every one I tried on looked almost like a night gown on me. It just gave me no shape and I looked frumpy. If you have tried it on and still love it, go with whichever one makes you feel beautiful! They are both pretty!

I am edging more toward the flowy one, because I tried on one that was very similar, but it didnt have enough detail.  I couldnt find any bridal place in the area that had that exact dress (the second one), so I am just going by how I felt about the other one that I had tried on, but didnt have enough detail.  I absolutely love the first- more traditional dress, but I want to be comfortable at the reception and I probably wouldnt be as much with that one..   Also, my fiancee is a bit of a minimalist and doesnt want to get too dressy so I feel like the traditional dress in comparison to what he would be willing to wear would be a little off... Such a hard decision =/

They are both beautiful dresses, but so different.  You obviously purchased the first one because you loved it.  I don't think it matters if it is a 'church' dress or not.  It is your wedding, wear your dream dress.  I think either dress will be beautiful.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
