The Royal Cancun 2013 Brides!

Recommended Posts

Congratulations on getting married! We are getting married May 17th 2013 at The Royal in Cancun and couldn't be more excited! I wanted to reach out to other brides-to-be and ask a few questions - hopefully for additional guidance!

My wedding coordinator has been accommodating - but it takes her days/weeks to get back to some of my questions. Any suggestions on how to get answers back quickly?

I was wondering if anyone has reviews on the DJ/Photographer at the site. We just booked Dormixx and requested a photographer - but am anxious to receive any tips on their performance or suggestions on how to make these processes easier!

We are thinking about upgrading to the lighted dance floor. It just looks so fun!

Any idea if the staff sets up the decorations you bring for the wedding - and if you are responsible for picking them up at the end of the night? I am also curious if other brides spent money on extra decorations for the reception through the resort.

Any suggestions on good spots for the after party following the reception? I'd like to add this to my agenda!

I haven't booked the food, flowers, etc. I am assuming I have to do that relatively soon - but haven't heard back. Any suggestions on the best options?

Happy planning and best wishes to all!

Kellie,

We booked Funever through The Royal - as they were the on-site photography company. After picking the middle package and extending the hours to fit in our ceremony and reception - the cost came to around $1,500.

We started to read the reviews and realized that most were sub-par. As a plan be, we have decided to fly in a photographer for two nights. He is a personal friend - so we are saving on the actual photography fee. But pictures our important to us and nothing I read about Funever is worth it.

I've heard Del Sol is amazing - but not cheap. Their photos look awesome though.

Maybe The Royal will wave the $350 outside vendor fee is you can negotiate something?

Hope that helps!

My wedding is June 21st, 2013. Sounds like you did figure out a better deal so that's good! I have emailed several photographers and found one or two with good prices but that stupid vendor fee ends up ruining it. I might just cross my fingers and hope for the best with fun ever. What time is your wedding and which location? Beach, gazebo?

I am getting married at the Gran Caribe in May 2013. You should check out this thread out: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/77571/2013-gran-caribe-real-royal-cancun-brides As far as Funever photos when we did our site visit we saw some of their work and were not impressed at all. We had thought about getting engagement photos while we were down there but didn't care for their work so we decided against it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
