My travel agent is Leanna villella, she is with rose city travel, her email is leanna@rosecitytravel.ca , tell her Laurie Lamoureux recommended her. :) I began talking with Leanna in November and my wedding is November 30 2013. She arranged three dates for deposits and this is how it worked out: My guests had to pay their first deposit by December 10th of $150/person (I actually sent my invites out already lol) then on February 10 another $150 pp was due, then guests have until September 10 2013 to pay the remaining $999 pp. Leanna is very quick with responding and is very accommodating. She does attend the weddings of the brides that she books if the couple can get 50+ people. Also, for every 15 people I book we get a free seat on the plane. FI and I both have free seats so it works out to be One full trip free! So basically we booked our wedding one year in advance, some people do less some people do more :)

Hi girls!

I am from Woodstock and are planning for late April 2014 - Ive been told by a few local TA's that 2014 pricing isnt out until May/June with all the group rates/promotions so we are waiting ever so patiently :)  The current rates they have provided are ridiculous (1600+ taxes!?)

Our guest budget is set for 1100-1300 max. and it seems if we wait for the above perks we can afford to consider higher-end resorts.

If it was just the two of us pricing wouldnt be a big deal but since we're planning other people's vacations its important to us to get the best value possible.

Anyone else feel like they are stuck waiting until 10 months prior to departure?? Or have we been talking to the wrong people?

I don't presume to speak for others, however, at Moments That Matter Photography we offer our current rates to wedding couples who book with us for 2014 now.

This gives them an excellent savings.....plus chances are great that their preferred date is available.....and we have a confirmed booking...win / win. THX everyone  :)

Happy planning + wishing you a perfect dream wedding !

Hi heather 82....hmmm, yes that isn't very helpful is it. We haven't decided on a wedding date yet but for sure 2014. I am going to talk to in agent in a week or so. I will let you know if she says we have to wait for better prices. I know what you mean about pricing. I want to go to a really nice place but want people to be able to still afford it!

I also had to wait a really long time! I got engaged last November, and started talking to travel agents right away. I wanted a May 2013 wedding and they told me it was too early to be looking. So I waited until may 2012, and was back and forth so many times trying to find the best price.

In the end we settled with a February wedding and it was more expensive :(

There were so many things not working out

First they said there were no flights to Antigua in May, so that is why I had to swich months. Then there were no rooms available for the second date.

So eventually I just gave up and told the travel agent to find whatever she could.

We only have 17 people flying out of Toronto with us. But that is how I wanted it anyways! small and sweet :)

Good Luck!

I got engaged in September and I finalized my quote with the TA approx a year out. She actually gave me an amazing rate for booking early. I think it will really depend on the location of your destination wedding as well and the time of year you're going. My FI and I originally wanted to go to Antigua for the wedding because the FI's family is from there. We wanted a November wedding, but during that time, only 1 airline flew down there, and made the prices ridiculous. Close to $2000/person!!! So we changed the location and got a much better rate since Mexico is so much more common than Antigua, there are so many options. Good luck :)

I am from Simcoe and also planning a DW for Feb 2014.  The person I have been dealing with through flightcentre has been able to give quotes over a year in advance, so maybe try dealing with someone else if you are anxious to get it booked!  She suggests booking early especially if you are having a large group to make sure everyone can be accomodated for and you can book your wedding for the time of day you want. Where are you planning on going?

Yep I know what you mean! But we were totally set on Antigua and it didn't matter.

I know the other places are cheaper, but we are going to make a day trip over to Montserrat where my FI is from :)

Last time we were there was 2005, so his family there has never met our kids!

Killing 2 birds with 1 stone!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
