Sewn-in cups vs Sewn-in bra for Maggie Sottero "Reese"

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies,

I know a lot of you have selected this gown for your destination weddings!  Had a question for all of you:

I brought my gown in for alterations this past weekend and was really pleased with the experience.  One thing I was surprised by is that rather than sewing in cups as I had expected, the seamstress wants me to buy a strapless bra that she would alter and then sew into the dress.  She says that it will not show or mess with the way the dress lays, but that it will give me more support and lift.  Sounds good in theory, as I'd like to see my gals looking their best, but I have never heard of this.  I'm also worried about the low-back and how that will work out.  This is the first thing I've ever had altered to me other than pant length, so I'm not especially confident.  The Yelp reviews for this lady are great, but I have no idea how to tell from my experience how this will turn out and I am nervous.

Anyone have any experience with this?  Did anyone DO this with their Reese?  Reasons to go one way or the other?

Thanks for any thoughts and experiences!

Kelly

Can you ask her what will happen if you do this & it does not work or you don't like it? like if she won't charge you?

or maybe use an old strapless, have her try it, see how you feel, & then do it with a good bra? it might take longer to do, but it might make you feel better about this.

I, too, have a maggie, and my top is corsett & see through & am nervous what I am going to do! especially because where i got my dress is out of business so now i need to find someone to alter it... yikes!

keep me posted

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
