Riu Palace Los Cabos 2013

Recommended Posts

To all Riu Palace 2013 brides. I know there are a lot of Riu palace threads out there but have not seen one really geared to the 2013 brides, so I thought we could start a new one to share our wedding dates and information/details as the plans come together.

My wedding date is July 25th, 2013

I am having about 50 guests

Wedding coordinator is Kylene

Beach ceremony

Pink & silver color scheme

Ordered my wedding dress and BM dresses

Photographer booked

Booking hair and makeup with Susan Morel

That's all for now!

I have spent a lot of time on here so far reading past brides' reviews, and this answered a lot of my questions. So, let me know if you have any questions!! If your wedding is coming up and you already have your details planned with Riu, I would love to know if you decided to hire the DJ, where your ceremony and reception are booked, and what you are doing for decor (I heard the florist is great and will even set up a better chuppah for you than what the Riu offers)!

I have contacted Kylene and she was quick to respond and answer all my questions - she even sent me the wedding checklists without me asking her to (apparently these don't usually get sent out until the planning begins 2 months before the wedding), so I am happy with her so far! I was told I can't book the reception location yet because they need to know the exact number of guests as the location options are very dependent on that number - so I understand their reasoning but it would still be nice to have that secured!

How is everyone's planning coming along? I am now trying to decide if I want to do DIY invitations or order from etsy. The destination wedding is definitely adding up fast! I have also been in contact with several dinner/booze cruise vendors to try to organize a welcome dinner for my guests, is anyone else doing this? If so, what company are you going with?

Hello RIU Palace Brides! Thanks for starting this thread, I think we have a few others...I can't keep up :)

I am getting married RIU Palace Cabo Sat. May 11, 2013. 4 months!

Getting nervous that we may have over 50 guests, but hoping not more than 65. 25 booked right now

Kylene is my coordinater; I pretty much have all the info I need thanks to this site! I haven't really emailed her too much.

Colors: Coral, Ivory, Turquoise/Aqua

Hair: Suzanne Morel; Makeup: My cousin is a makeup artist

Photography: Gilda Badillo

Videographer: Jorge Ibarra

Wedding Attire: Done!

Save the Dates: Done! Did the boarding pass template through zazzle.com;

Invitations: Designs by MK--she will work with you on designs and is affordable. I found her through this site.

Still need to: Figure out music (DJ, playlist). And all the things you can't do until 2 months before(Flowers, reception site). We are looking at Baja Norte for the reception and doing a free welcome party in the Piano Bar on Thurs night. The rehearsal dinner will be a sunset cruise probably through Sunrider. (Cabo Mar was booked already). We have planned activities Thurs(Welcome drinks), Fri(Rehearsal), and Sat(wedding). That's it so guests can then enjoy their vacation too :)

I think that's it! Best of luck to all of those planning. I'm sure I will have more questions as we go!

Hello!! My wedding is July 19th and I'm waiting to hear from Kylene...I think that's her name. I hate not being able to have constant contact with a wedding coordinator, but I I guess they have everything in control. Are you using the resort photog or an off site one?

Hello Ladies,

My vow renewal is August 2nd and we are expecting about 20 guests. I have a confirmation code, but have not guaranteed the date yet, as I am having second thoughts due to the room rates. Did the Palace offer group/discount rates for your guests staying at the hotel?

I am using Dennis Berti for my photographer. As for the room rates MrsMoye, we used a tour company (signature vacations) via our travel agent. I think it is generally cheaper to do it that way than to book directly through the hotel. I would use a different tour company than signature vacations though if you have the choice... They have very poor customer service!

Houstonnlh, I read that a few brides decided to bring their own iPod and Bose music system which from the sounds of it worked great. Are you considering something like this or definitely using the DJ? Is Rui letting you "reserve" the piano bar for free for your welcome party? That sounds like a great idea! Thanks for sharing.

I am in the process of figuring out decor right now. I am going to be bringing down light things ike parasols, fans, chair decor, etc.. But I plan to hopefully find some things at the Wal Mart or Costco in Cabo that I can use to make centerpieces.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
