Wedding Planners, is it worth it?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I got engaged and I am planning on getting married on November 16th, 2013. I don't have a venue yet but I am sure about a destination wedding in Cancun or Riviera Maya. I am planning a catholic wedding for 50 approx.

I would love to hear your thoughts on wedding planners. Do you feel they are worth it? If yes, who would you recommend?

Thanks for all your help!

Karla

in Hawaii, it's not uncommon to have a planner, however, it's not called a "planner" it's a coordinator. they help you do things that you can't whole being far away..

my girl will help me with finding a place, getting flowers, cake, setting up, the day of the wedding & all that. but i found her because the company also does photography & is one of the best on the island!

for places that are big DW, i'm sure they have the same thing down in the Carribbean!

Hi Karla,

I really think it depends on the type of wedding you are planning, and the location. If you're choosing an all inclusive resort, and having all of the wedding events onsite, I'm not so sure it's worth hiring an outside wedding planner. If you're hosting a rehearsal dinner offsite, wedding at a church offsite of the resort, and a reception somewhere else too, it may be worthwhile.

The resorts have dedicated wedding staff - both during the planning phases and onsite. They can generally provide you with options to help you plan the wedding of your dreams!

Good luck with the planning.

Hey Tiffanysblue,

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the forum.  As a wedding planner here in the Riviera Maya, I would suggest to you if you are set on having your wedding on Nov 16 2013, you need to find a location pretty fast.  As Nov is a busy month with weddings, especially if you are looking to have a catholic ceremony, dates will get booked up pretty quickly.

Once you find the church/resort that offers catholic ceremony then you could then make a decision on having a coordinator or not, if you are thinking about having an off resort wedding you might consider a someone who knows the area and can get you some good deals.

Hope this advice was helpful and feel free to ask us anything or email us at: weddingsinplayadelcarmen@gmail.com

Happy planning!

Joyce

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
