Missb's Isla Mujeres wedding - March 17, 2013

Thanks for the encouragement, mstigger!  It's killing me not to go have my dress altered right now, I'm not a patient person with stuff like that.

The shot glasses came!  They're a gift from my Mom, 8 of them, one for each of our guests:

The toe rings and acrylic tumblers came, too.  I did not like the stick-on letters I got for the cups, they weren't staying well, so I ordered vinyl letters from an etsy seller.  She's doing full names instead of just single letters, and all 8 names were only $10.  I tried my dress on with my shoes and jewelry, and love love love the necklace and shoes with the dress.  I didn't realize the earrings were clip-ons, however, and one of them came apart.  I hate clip-ons, so although I could fix the one earring, I went ahead and ordered others from another etsy seller.  They're teal and rhinestone 16mm rounds and I think they'll be perfect with the necklace.  My MOH friendship bracelets have been shipped, so those should be here today and tomorrow.  I can't wait to give hers to her, I love her so much, and I know it will be a special moment for us.  Her husband is our BM, they still are on the search for what they're wearing... I left it up to them.  Oh, and the beach bags themselves came in.  They're much bigger than I thought they would be since they were only $9.00 each!  Instead of having them monogrammed, I bought iron-on letters at JoAnn's in colors that coordinate with each bag's handle.  I'll have to get pictures of those.

Today I'm going to order the personalized cigar bands, next week Dave and I will go to a cigar shop and get some higher-end cigars.  Dave said to wait until we get to Mexico so we could buy Cubans, but I know we won't want to stop at duty-free on the way in and I want the bags ready to be put on each guest's bed as soon as we get there.

Everyone's flights are booked... we get in super early in the morning with one couple (same flight), we'll have time to catch the ferry to Isla, drop our luggage at the house, hit the grocery store for wine and some essentials, and get back to the ferry dock to pick up the other two couples whose flights land right around 11am.  We're trying to decide if we just want to grill dinner at the house that first evening since we want it to be low-key as the wedding is the next day.  Our group likes to party, and we don't want to be dragging the next day.

I can't believe we're about 40-something days away!!!

Wow, I haven't updated this in a while!

So much has happened.  Yesterday we got married at the courthouse :) .  It was much better than I thought it would be, the judge cracked some jokes, we both said our heartfelt "I do"s and we had a wonderful afternoon and night afterwards.  Here we are at the courthouse, in front of the adult probation department cheesy.gif :

I picked my dress up from the seamstress today, I'm so happy with it!!  She added a hook at the top of the back so that it's easier for zipping.  It needs steamed, but I'm going to take it and have that done once we get to the island.

We leave in 8 days, and we're pretty much all set.  I have my nail, pedi, and eyelash appointment the day before we leave.  The kennel has our reservation for our puppy, Julio, we're going to miss him so much, but he'll be well-taken care of.  The photographer and ceremony are both paid for, and I'm working out the final details with the restaurant for dinner afterwards.

We're getting so close!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
