I did the sand ceremony.  I brought my own sand and used mason jars we etched with our initials.  And the script of course :)

Thank you for your help we only have 28 guests and since a group of them are already members they didn't count towards our 75 nights either way I have no idea what the total cost will be and it's driving me a little crazy! Figured we could just save on the DJ and take the equipment they give us to use on the terrace...hopefully it's loud enough the whole experience has been off but I am excited to just be on vacation and together away from the crazy world for a bit!!

Also real quick did anyone do the sand ceremony and if so what are we supposed to provide???

@@JennyGoll Did your wedding planner send you the Palace Resorts Wedding Collection Guide? It has pricing info for all wedding related stuff. For private functions, if you don't meet the 75 night min for free events, it's $50/pp. I think for a group under a certain size (I want to say it's either 20 or 30), you have the option of having a semi-private reception at a sectioned off part of a restaurant, so that's an option too if your group is small and you don't want to pay all the additional fees. I can send you the guide if you want, but it's from last year, so you might want to ask your wedding planner for an updated one.

I did the sand ceremony also. I brought all my own stuff, vases and sand, and provided our officiant with the script.

Thank you so much!! No they never sent anything unless I requested it...so annoying being in the dark! Lol they assumed since our wedding block only had 20 that was our party! Although 6 more are at MP (and members of theirs) as well as four offsite. They had all of this info although ignored it! So now working with our WC at the resort she is figuring out all the details (again) I sent what We were expecting and where and asked for the final cost...she replied that all if this would be happening! I will need to go over the costs carefully although I am keeping things very simple.

Any suggestions on gift bags for guests??? There are mostly couples so really only need to make 15. Thinking of shipping them to MP any experiences or advice on these??

@misobox Thank you so much for the information! No, I booked through the MP direcltly. I checked the prices online and yes, those prices included transportation and everything... I understand that the rates given based on occupancy from previous years but there is a big discrepancy in price in my case. I guess I will try calling them again to see if something can be done... If anyone has a supervisor's contact information I'll aprecciate it!

@NatCarVas  pricing is quoted at the time you booked it.  So, compared to last years bookings at that time and if current year  occupancy is low still then Palace might lower rates to get more guests. The less rooms available, they will up the rate higher since there is a higher demand.  Too many rooms un-booked, they will lower the rates.  Airlines work like this as well. Its kind of like the stock market.   Through the year the resort directly may offer specials, but those don't apply to group rates.

When you booked it was a quoted rate based on occupancy at the time.  Usually these are contracted and can't be changed.   Did you do your room block with the resort directly or through a travel agent?  Sometimes, TA are able to get the resort to wiggle on the price difference, but not always.  Doesn't hurt to ask.

Also, double check on the rates on line.   More often I see guests state they see lower rates that includes everything. However, usually they are mistaken and does not actually include the transportation...

I just want to say DJ Discomovil just sent me his prices and I am floored. I love the prices, love how fast he responds. We will be meeting with him in September. Unfortunately the resort has this outrageous $800 vendor fee, but with the vendor fee his packages are still better.

I booked DJ Discomovil and he is awesome to work with I can't wait to have him DJ our wedding.  His prices are pretty good even with the vendor fee and still cheaper than the Palace DJ.

Hello!!! Can you please send me the information for DJ Discomovil? I'm getting married at the moon palace in november and I'm freaking out, things have not been as smooth as I expected... I'm also really dissapointed with the photo/video vendors, do you have anyone for those services? Also, did you have any issues with the "group rate" given to you? a few guest called me because the prices on line including transportation are about $80,00 cheaper per night!! Any advice will help, I decided to do a destination wedding thinking it was going to be less stressfull but it has not been the case!!

Does the rate online include airport transfers if it doesn't it might actually come out to the same as booking through you.  People forget that with the online travel websites transfers are extra and sometimes those reservations are not priority like booking directly with the resort or a TA so they have the risk of being bumped to another resort.  Encourage them to book with your rate/wedding group that way you don't have to pay extra for them not being part of your wedding group. Also they won't count towards your room nights and you might not qualify for free benefits if they don't book through your wedding group. DW are definitely not less stressful unfortunately but it will all be worth it in the end.

As for a photographers there a lot of great photographers that you can find on this forum look them up in the vendor section.  You will need to pay a $400 vendor fee for them though since they are outside vendor. I personally think its worth the vendor fee if you want great pics.  I booked Del Sol photography for my wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
