@@NJBride2014 Thank you so much for your response, yes, the rates my guest are giving me already include the airport transfers, they are actually getting the information directly from the moonpalace website, so I don't know how to encourage them to use my link, how can I to explain the difference in price, we are talking about $80 a night and most of them are looking to stay 4 to 5 nights, I went to the moon palace website and checked myself and the information they gave me was correct. I wish there was something I could do to make them lower the price, our room is already paid but at least my guest will have a better rate and will be motivated to use the link the resort gave for the so called "special group rate" I will check the photographers in the forums, hopefully I'll find one that I like.

Does the rate online include airport transfers if it doesn't it might actually come out to the same as booking through you.  People forget that with the online travel websites transfers are extra and sometimes those reservations are not priority like booking directly with the resort or a TA so they have the risk of being bumped.  Encourage them to book with your rate/wedding group that way you don't have to pay extra for them not being part of your wedding group.  DW are definitely not less stressful unfortunately but it will all be worth it in the end.

As for a photographers there a lot of great photographers that you can find on this forum look them up in the vendor section.  You will need to pay a $400 vendor fee for them though since they are outside vendor. I personally think its worth the vendor fee if you want great pics.  I booked Del Sol photography for my wedding.

I would call moon palace and try to get them to give you new rates or at least match what's showing up on their own site.  Email your wedding coordinator too and see what can be done.  Also maybe they are running a special right now and that's why the price is lower but I would try to reach out to either the hotel directly or your wedding coordinator to see what they can do about the price.

Does anyone know where i can find sparklers near Moon Palace or even in the Riviera Maya area?

You can get sparklers through the resort.  I would ask your wedding coordinator, the only thing is they are much more expensive through the resort than here in the US or if you bought it outside the hotel.  I also wanted sparklers but didn't want to pay what my resort was charging so I asked my DJ if he could provide them or knew where to get them once I was there and he has to order them from Mexico City and he will bring them the day of the wedding.  So if he needs to order them from Mexico City and he lives in Cancun I'm not sure how easily accessible they are around town. Do you have any outside vendors maybe see if they can look into getting them for you and you pay them.  It was also cheaper to get them through my DJ.

@@NJBride2014 Yeah my coordinator sent me the price list. Its a little crazy to pay 4 times the amount i would have payed here in the US but i guess i i'll have to decide if i really want them.

I read they are easier to find in Mexico during the holidays and not very easy to find otherwise. I don't want to go on a wild goose chase when we get there so  I'll probably just get them through the resort and pay the $118 for 30 or not get them at all because it hurts me to think that they are $30 for 48 here in the states.

I know she quoted me like $150 for 45 sparklers I could get them here for $20.  My DJ is getting them for me for about $60 so still more expensive than here in the US but much cheaper than the resort.

@@JennyGoll When is your wedding? If you haven't picked your private event locations, I would do that ASAP. There are usually multiple weddings per day there, so the good locations get booked up fast,  esp on the weekends or during their busy season.

I brought all my gift bag supplies down in luggages with me. My WP had advised against shipping since it might not go through customs so it's not really reliable. Plus international shipping costs with the taxes are ridic, and it's cheaper and easier to just pay for checked bags. Or if you have guests that can help you bring them down, even better!

Thank you so much!! No they never sent anything unless I requested it...so annoying being in the dark! Lol they assumed since our wedding block only had 20 that was our party! Although 6 more are at MP (and members of theirs) as well as four offsite. They had all of this info although ignored it! So now working with our WC at the resort she is figuring out all the details (again) I sent what We were expecting and where and asked for the final cost...she replied that all if this would be happening! I will need to go over the costs carefully although I am keeping things very simple.
Any suggestions on gift bags for guests??? There are mostly couples so really only need to make 15. Thinking of shipping them to MP any experiences or advice on these??

@@shellsal I went with an outside vendor and I'm using Discomovil.  He has great reviews, responds very quickly and the best prices.  He was cheaper than both JSAV and PSAV and I just liked his communication better so I decided to go with him even with the vendor fee he was cheaper than the resort DJ and I'm also getting lighting through him.  I actually bypassed the vendor fee by getting him a room night even cheaper than paying $800 vendor fee. There a lot of DJ's on this forum with great reviews he just communicated the best and beat out everyone's price.  Are you having a lot of guests?  Did you get a DJ?

@@NJBride2014 I'm having between 75 and 80 guests.   Yes, we are leaving in 18 days and that number is still growing and i feel like everything should be done already but it's not! AH!

Anyway, we got JSAV through the coordinator but have not signed anything yet. I was looking in to booking Discomovil a few months ago but they replied that they were not available for our date.  :(  I was really bummed about that.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
