Hello! By any chance did you have any issues with the "special rate" given to you by the resort? My wedding is in November 2014 and i was given a rate of 392.00 per room (double occupancy/garden view delux) but i have received several calls from family and friends stating that the rates on the resort website are way lowers than what it was offered to me. I'm talking of prices ranging from 328.00 to 348.00 per night for the same rooms with transportation included!!! I tried to talk to several ppl at the resort but no one would give me a striaght answer!! Did this happen to you??? I'll appreciate any input on this matter, I dont want my family and friends thinking Im making then pay more to get perks and free stuff!!!! Thanks!

@NatCarVas  pricing is quoted at the time you booked it.  So, compared to last years bookings at that time and if current year  occupancy is low still then Palace might lower rates to get more guests. The less rooms available, they will up the rate higher since there is a higher demand.  Too many rooms un-booked, they will lower the rates.  Airlines work like this as well. Its kind of like the stock market.   Through the year the resort directly may offer specials, but those don't apply to group rates.

When you booked it was a quoted rate based on occupancy at the time.  Usually these are contracted and can't be changed.   Did you do your room block with the resort directly or through a travel agent?  Sometimes, TA are able to get the resort to wiggle on the price difference, but not always.  Doesn't hurt to ask.

Also, double check on the rates on line.   More often I see guests state they see lower rates that includes everything. However, usually they are mistaken and does not actually include the transportation...

If anyone is contemplating having their wedding at a Palace Resort i urge you to run the other way! Less than 30 days to go to our wedding and the off-site coordinators have been non existent. Instead of making the planning process a smooth one they have made it a struggle. I am a very patient and laid back person so for me to say this is a big deal. I hope when we arrive to the resort our wedding goes seamlessly and my mind is changed. until then i do not recommend having your wedding at this resort or any Palace resort if you would like some sort of peace of mind during the months leading up to it.

I 100% agree. I was married there in April and the planning was very stressful. I could go on and on about all the screw ups, lack of responses etc. Also look very closely at your bill because we were sent one with "additional charges" multiple times.... It felt very sneaky. Even once at the resort there were a few hiccups due to miscommunication by our wedding coordinator. Thankfully I am a very organized person and I attribute that to how smoothly our wedding day went. The day of our wedding was amazing and turned out better than I could have hoped for but I did all the work and the wedding coordinator was non existent. At one point i even asked her what her job was considering we paid for a wedding planner in our package. I even asked for a walk through of the ceremony and she said no so I had to explain everything and do my own walk through with my bridal party. On the day of the wedding she couldn't even coordinate my bridesmaids walking down the aisle with me coming in the horse and carriage. My girls walked and stood up there for five minutes with my music playing and I never came. Somehow there was a miscommunication between the horse and carriage driver who was waiting with me around the corner and the wedding planner. So finally when I came my song was ending and they had to replay it! My coordinator also said she would show up at my other wedding events and she never did. Also, watch for hidden charges on your bill at check out... Multiple guests had charges like golf club rentals on their bills and they never rented golf clubs... And then the front desk tried to make them pay anyways and we had to speak with a manager.....not acceptable. This post sounds negative, I would recommend moon palace for a vacation 100% its beautiful, the service was great for the most part, the rooms are beautiful and clean., the food is pretty good and there's tons to do. Although my wedding was the best day ever if I was to do it again I am not sure I would choose moon palace. Their wedding department and planners get a fail in my opinion.

Ok any suggestions on the sound equipment? We have the complimentary package and only 28 guests so it seems silly to hire a DJ but is their equipment good enough to use for the reception?? Any suggestions would help! I am excited to be so close to our date although it has been a bit if a struggle to get any details about even the ceremony!! Please help I'm trying not to freak out lol

Sorry you had to go through the stress as well but i'm glad to know i'm not alone in my feelings.21 days to go and still have not closed out our PO and many questions still unanswered.  <_<

On another note has anyone had uninvited guests invite themselves to your destination wedding? or had guests invite others without asking you (and i don't mean a plus one. I'm talking 4 people)? I have about 8 people and counting that were not invited by us in any way shape or form that have booked and are coming. 5 of which neither myself or my SO even know. 6 of which no one even told us were coming. 2 We didn't find out until our TA sent us the final list of guests and 4 that were casually mentioned just yesterday.

Should we accommodate these uninvited guests at our wedding events or should we exclude them for their rudeness and inconsiderateness?   I need help!

PSAV and the ipod hook up.  only cost me a little over $200 in 2012 and was perfect! I made my own playlists and have no complaints! They provide an "ipod tech" to stand over the ipod and/or computer in case something goes wrong.

If you are paying for people to be at your wedding, I would not invite them.  That is rude- this is a wedding and people don't just invite people to a wedding at home,. what makes a destination wedding different?

If having 8 extra people won't cost anything, they I would just invite them unless you know they will be a problem (too drunk, make a scence) or something.

@@shellsal wow that's crazy I agree with @@shan0487 if these extra uninvited guests are going to cost you extra for having them at all your events then I would make sure they know they are not invited.  If it doesn't cost you anything I would just avoid the awkward conversation and just let it go.  How did they know what TA to contact are they coming with other invited guests?

I have some guests who are booking even after our booking date has passed which is getting a little annoying because now it's throwing off my seating arrangements, welcome bags, favors etc.  Also since they are not booking through our TA I will need to pay for every event they come to.  With 37 days left until I leave for Cancun I really don't' feel like adding more stress on top of everything else. Its nice that people want to come but so last minute is not cool. I think people think that a DW just happens and the resort takes care of everything they don't' understand all the little details that goes into planning the wedding weekend.

Thank you for your advice @@shan0487 & @@NJBride2014

@@NJBride2014 all the uninvited guests were invited by other guests so that's how they got all the TA info.We didn't mind plus ones. We were expecting that but whole families to be invited without anyone even asking us or letting us know has been a real shock to my FI and I.Mind you they were not invited by our parents or anything like that. Even that would have been more understandable.

It's really stressful to be put in this position.

We too have had people book now just 30-25 days before the wedding and more than 2 months after the RSVP was due. It really does throw everything off. There are many extra costs involved and even though I really do feel like sticking it to them for the audacity i have a nagging feeling i should take the high road and include everyone so there are no confrontations. ::ugh::

@@shellsal yeah it sucks with all the extra costs....tip to future DW brides expect extra people coming last minute and budget for it and buy extras of everything.  UH I'll have to suck it up to and just pay but I just don't get people they should know its a wedding and we do have to pay for all extras such as private events, at least be considerate and respond by the deadline.  People think oh its an AI resort and that we are getting a free wedding definitely not the case......ok end rant! lol

Thank you for your help we only have 28 guests and since a group of them are already members they didn't count towards our 75 nights either way I have no idea what the total cost will be and it's driving me a little crazy! Figured we could just save on the DJ and take the equipment they give us to use on the terrace...hopefully it's loud enough the whole experience has been off but I am excited to just be on vacation and together away from the crazy world for a bit!!

Also real quick did anyone do the sand ceremony and if so what are we supposed to provide???

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
