You won't sign your PO until 30 days out- at least that's how it was in 2012.  But I would def give them a call to see what is going on! :)

Hi everyone,

I am having a "small" problem. Dulce is our wedding coordinator and our wedding is November 25th, i havent received an email from her since January 30th and over the last month i have sent her at least 2 emails requesting information on how she would like us to complete payment for our wedding collection. I havent heard back from her- in fact i havent heard back from her on an email i sent in february. I am starting to get concerned as the issue from february is why we havent signed our PO yet.

Does anyone else have Dulce? is she still arround? Has anyone else experianced lack of response to this extent?

im not exaclty sure how to escalate this or if it is worth escalating. how long would you wait for a response?

only 4 months 18 days to go :)

Hello all! I've booked my wedding for 5/23/15. With over 10 months to go, I'm wondering if anyone can give me some feedback on what your timeline has been for making plans with the wedding planner. Is there anything that I need to do now, or should I relax and wait until the wedding gets closer?  I've mainly just been trying to get information on vendors and pricing so that I can get an idea of what my budget will be. I've been assigned Margarita as my wedding planner but haven't had a chance to speak with her yet.

Thank you

shan0487 and jackielemman for your advice, i was just about to call when i got a response today and it turns out that she no longer works for the reddings department and we have been reassigned to Yazmin.

Such a releif to find out what was going on :D

I came to the realization last night after much ranting that i have local communication expectations that just arent realistic to the layed back Mexico style that we love so much. Everything will work itself out and hopefully this new coordinator is even better than the last :)

Hey Everyone,

This is just a quick question for those who have booked through a TA and have completed the whole contract ordeal.

I'm currently in the middle of going over my wedding contract. Reading the previous posts, I have read that there are group contracts, and in order to get the 75+ room night perks for the unlimited private functions, a group contract must be singed. Is this different than a wedding contract? Because in my wedding contract, there is only information in regards to the wedding itself and the package we have chosen.

My TA has confirmed with me that she was in touch with one of the coordinators and they had mentioned that we would be entitled to them and that the only requirements is to have a group contract or have all the rooms reserved through one source (ie: transat, sunwing....) which we are.

I just want to verify with others that have booked through a TA that this is what they have went through as well???

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

I would work on just getting quotes from all the vendors you're interested in and figuring out your budget and your vision. Then I'd get all the same things out of the way (programs, oot bags, etc) so that when you start planning with your WC you don't have to sweat the small stuff at the same time. You might even want to start asking for the locations where you want to have your events but You don't really have to start communicating with the coordinators until about 3/4 months before the wedding. I'm at about 45 days away from the wedding and we still haven't signed the Purchase Order or finalized most of our vendors that we're contracting through the resort. You have plenty of time! Enjoy it!

First, Congrats!

My experience was that when we locked down a room block with our TA she gave us a detailed contract of what we are entitled to as a wedding group. This listed every level of room nights and what we would get. You need a group contract with either the resort or through your TA to receive the room night perks and I believe to be able to even get a group contract you need to guarantee a certain amount of rooms. I would speak directly to the resort to get more clarification.

Has anyone used Dream Art Photography for their wedding? Back in March, we signed a contract with Ocean Photography because we really liked what we saw in the webiste. It was booked through the resort. I got an email yesterday from Dream Art confirming our package. It's two weeks from our wedding and NO ONE informed us that our photographers had changed. I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the wedding coordinators at this resort. I still haven't heard from our on-site coordinator and we leave in less than two weeks...

Hello there!! I am getting married in two weeks as well at Beach Palace! I was informed last week by ocean studio photography that my package was transferred to Dream Art! I am beyond frustrated because I have already paid for everything and ocean did our engagment photos when we did our site inspection.

I need an extra hour of photography and videography so I asked dream art and they want to charge me 500 for pics and 500 for videography! Ocean charged 175 for an hour of photos and 235 for videography! I feel that dream art is trying to rip me off!! I'm beyond frustrated I should have ocean prices honored especially since that's what I booked based on palace pamphlets and suggestion.

I have been frustrated with the contact from my wedding coordinator but he told me he was busy with other weddings at the time! I understand but wish they had assistants we could at least email!

Good luck at ur wedding !!!

Hi Lydia,

Our wedding is in November and we will be using Dream Art. Apparently they are also the ONLY photographers on MP's accepted list, so I imagine a lot of brides will be dealing with them.

Your wedding must be coming up - how were they as photographers? Any tips?

Thanks!

Lindsay

We got married yesterday! We did use Dream Art and I haven't seen the photos yet. The photographers and videographer were great and very professional.

I was hesitant because they were substituted without us being previously informed but that was the fault of the hotel, not the photography company. Apparently they do photography at a number of resorts.

We look at our photos tomorrow and will let you know how they look afterwards.

@@LydiaButterfly Do you recall the prices/packages for Dream Art? I'm debating whether to take my own photographers or not.

No, sorry, I don't. We booked in March with Ocean Photography. DreamArt came aboard in June so they honoured our contract with Ocean as we had already paid for it. I don't know anything about the packages available.

I do have to say that I love our photos. It was hard to choose which ones to bring back home!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
