I think I'm going to leave the ceremony space the same an put my money toward the reception space. I think the complimentary ceremony is really beautiful the way it is. My only addition would be an isle runner but I don't think I'll do that. What are you planning?
I'm also thinKing aisle runner but flOwers in my wedding colors rather than what they offer "complimentary".

Hi we are from Scotland and we are getting married on the 26th September 2014, we are looking for lots of tips and ideas to help with making our day a special one, we are going for 2 weeks. We were wondering can we use the resort credit towards the photography and is there other ways to try and keep the costs down to a minimum. Thanks.

the WC said that it might cost $100 for setup of the papel picado, so we aren't sure if we should have it done or have one of our guests do it for us....oh and the ceremony will be at Bougainvilla Gazebo, reception will be at the Bougainvilla Terrace. :)

Hey what other decorations will you be having for your ceremony/reception space? I'm trying to get some ideas and i want to cut down costs. :) I'm doing the complimentary package so... I know it comes with very little decorations.

For the ceremony: I'm going to hand paint parasols and place them at the end of the aisle...that's pretty much it for the ceremony area, other than "us" of course and the sand ceremony box. Every one of our guests is going to get a hand painted maraca and a fan program. (which will be at each seat) and that'll add some color and "umph".

For the reception: We are getting papel picado, custom luminarias (with candle inside), and some fun favors (silly things like mint tins, more maracas, etc.) - we'll also have placecards for each guest which will make it colorful and nice. My family sells all of those custom items on Etsy, so it'll be free for us, except for the setup, which I hope that my family will do for us to save on paying those fees.

Check out my planning guide listed below. I'm going to be updating that pretty soon with more ideas and inspiration. :)

Thanks!!!

Thanks darling! I would LOVE for you to crash it! HAHA! I'm gonna have to keep in touch with you since I think that we are the closest to each other's BIG DAY! The luminarias are going to be the centerpcs. They are easy to transport and don't require much to set them up. I'm gonna put battery operated candles in them. My only concern is if it's windy...I'm going to have to figure out something else to put in them to keep them up and beautiful. I was thinking a few of those per table. I really don't know what else other than rose petals and the guest favors. I know I'm gonna go crazy with stuff so I want to try to keep it as simple as possible, yet show a bit of our style. ;)

That's so awesome!!! I forgot you said you had luminarias. I think you'll be ok, I don't think the bag will bee too flimsy and flip over. I haven't even thought about the reception yet. I'm just trying to make sure I stay on budget! Well that and getting all the important details squared away like, confirming my location for the reception.... oh! and Invitations. I did my STDs last weekend and the first batch will probably go out next week. (fingers crossed)

Did you do a site visit? I feel like you said you went in August.

That's awesome! We just ended up skipping the STDs because I wanted to do both the passport/boarding pass and everyone that is going already knew about the wedding months ago! I would love to see how yours turned out!!! (It was kinda nerve wrecking sending mine out...I honestly told my fiancee that there's no turning back now! haha)

I haven't done a site visit. I can't afford to do it, I would have LOVED to, but it's not possible!!!    I'm going to try to get nicer thick luminarias to see how they'll hold up! I totally hear ya on trying to stay under budget - who knew that it would still cost an arm and a leg when they said "complimentary"! BUT, it's going to be worth it and the wedding of our dreams, so why not?!

OK Moon Palace ladies I need some help. I'm trying to gather some ideas for how I want to have my creception space decorated. I would love for those of you to chime in .

So... I don't have a confirmed reception are yet (working on that) but it's likely that it will be outdoors. I have yet to get in touch with my WC because she's been out ALL week. I have been reassured that she will return, she just hasn't. I'm getting antsy because naturally I'd like to confirm my space so i can start to think about decorations.

It is likely that I will use Deco Cancun as i will not have to pay a vendor fee. Does anyone know what the complimentary package (with unlimited private events) comes with? These are questions I'd ask my WC but... you know the rest. Are the White Avangard chairs included with the reception setup? Or are they the covered white chairs?

I only ask because I'd like to have an idea of what the bare bones reception space will look like so i can kind of plan what kind of things from DecoCancun I'd like to rent.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
