Does anyone have any advice about when I should be booking my private reception venue, videographer etc.? My wedding isn't until April 2014, and I have heard you don't book anything until 90 days before the wedding but I am worried because I have read on the blogs that some people do book these things much further in advance. I don't want to get stuck with no options if everything gets booked up.

I am not sure.  I have just been told to wait until the coordinator contacts me 90 days prior and dont select the location until then. Kind of nerve wrecking to wait that far.  So far I am just working on sending out "save the dates" and collecting stuff for guest travel bags as the wedding favor! If you hear anything more please post it :)

yeah I'd like to get save the dates out pretty early too. What do yours look like? Right now I'm haggling with Apple on our room rates. Are you using a TA or going straight through the resort. It is kind of unnerving that you can't really plan your wedding until 90 days out! Are you have a reception back home?

I am probably just going to go through vista.com or something for save the dates. And then I really want to do the passport idea for invitations, but they seem very pricey! I am going to have a small reception once everyone gets back from The vacation with just those who couldn't make it and the bridal party. My sister just started a traveling business so I am going through her :) if you want any specific details just feel free to PM me! Are you getting married in the courts here And just doing a symbolic at moon palace?

I a

I was wanting to do the passport idea too! I haven't looked at the prices yet though.  Yeah we are going to do all the legalities here and have a symbolic ceremony in Mexico. Are you guys doing the same?
Thats good! We are legally getting married at moon palace. Getting married here and then doing a symbolic is just...well "tricky" with my family. Everyone would want to see both, so it would be odd to have that many people see us get married twice. However, it seems a lot easier to get married here and then symbolic there. I hope the legal marriage process is legit there and it all works out. It's kind of scaring me that so many brides on here are doing symbolic and not the legal ceremony. :(

We are having the same slight problem! My fiance's parents are asking me if we are going to let immediate family come to the courthouse...and I'm like well doesn't that defeat the purpose for anyone to see that and then go to Mexico? We are doing it simply because I didn't really want to do the blood test, pay for the translation, and be there so many days ahead of time. I really wish we were though, because i want the real deal to be in front of everyone. I kind of wish we hadn't told anyone at all about the symbolic so that wouldn't be an issue haha, but I'm not telling anyone other than our parents :)

I'm having the same issues with friends and family that can't make it to MP for our wedding. They want us to do something here as well, and I'm not ok with the double expense! I'd rather have a family vacation, wedding and honeymoon - ALL IN ONE! We may do a small dinner when we come back, but we are also keeping the symbolic ceremony a secret. My brother in law is going to perform our ceremony - as he is going to become an ordained minister in order to marry us. So, he will make sure that we have the same anniversary date...SHHHH! woot2.gifIt's perfect because we don't want to hassle with all the other extras and expenses.

I will however, suggest that you book the location ASAP. We wanted the Tucan Terrace and it was already booked for JULY 2014! hissyfit.gif So, we went with the Bougainvilla terrace instead, since I wanna wear heels and not be barefoot on my wedding! Once you book your stuff, make sure that the charges on your contract are correct because they were trying to charge us for blood work and translations, when we are only doing a symbolic ceremony. Little extras like that can add up!

Good luck everyone and post pics of DIY projects that you have going on. I will post my STDs soon! I hope to get those out within the next couple of weeks.

Can't wait to see your STD's! I'm so glad to hear that others are having the same thoughts as me! So you can book your ceremony location this early? I was under the impression I had to wait for all that until 90days out when the planning actually starts. We are doing the complimentary ceremony. I filled out the contract yesterday, and it didn't seem like there were any extra costs on it, phew.

I've heard complaints about people not getting their refunds back in a timely manner for the comp nights they earned through having so many room nights. I hope we don't have those troubles. Anything you learn please share! Have you booked your room block yet?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
