How to remind guests to book their room

i'm having the same issue, especially because we put a deposit down to block the rooms & the guests have up to a month prior to the wedding to get this special deal (50% savings for a 4 star hotel!) & it's frustrating because if they don't book, & we don't get the required minimum rooms, we lose the deposit & our guests who book lose the deal. So then my dad said he'd have to pay the difference which then hits into the budget!

ugh!

Good tips and ideas! I'm having severe worry about people not putting down deposits, even though I just mailed out my STDs yesterday. I included information on the back, telling them to contact the travel agent by May 1 (even though the deposit isn't due for a month after that). I've also verbally told some people and will start a Facebook group. I had a friend do that for her wedding and the notifications were really helpful in reminding me to book my hotel. I also put a wedding website address in there where I'll put all the info again. What are people's thoughts on including the price breakdown? I thought it might be helpful on the website but I have a few worries: 1. It may look tacky, despite being useful 2. The prices, which are incredibly cheap for the resort and time of year may seem too high for those who don't travel and it will immediately scare them off 3. We have 5 different prices because we have invited people from across the country. As such, the price differs a bit, which I feel bad about. I may be way over thinking things.

I think the more information you can give to your guests the better it is and you will get feedback from guests who for sure want and can afford to come. On my website I posted prices from Montreal and Toronto which do differ about 100$. I also posted prices for upgraded rooms and surprisingly everyone who's booked have booked the most expensive rooms!

Same here. We placed a deposit for 20 rooms, we can drop up to ten of them by April 7th, after that it's a done deal. We haven't even gotten all 10 booked which means we lose the deposit for all 10 rooms, even those that were booked. Guests only have until April to book too. That will be $1000 down the drain. I'm so irritated with it right now.

$1,000? Ouch! Bases on experience, would you recommend couples collect the deposit themselves before booking with the TA then add about 5 rooms to their count? For example, if we collect $50 from 10 people we have cash on hand for 5 rooms. We would then only use $500 of our own money to reserve 5 additional rooms for people who could not make our "deposit" deadline. I'm trying to see how things like this could be avoided.

I just made my dad and his Gf pay their trips in full and my uncle put down a 1000$ towards his trip and that covered the deposits for 30 rooms no need for me to harass anyone! Im at 14 booked two more and I get a free trip and free basic wedding package :) !!! Rewedbride- how many people did you invite in total ?

yeah i'm not sure what exactly our requirement is at our place, i think 80% rooms have to be filled but July, a month prior to wedding, but we don't want to wait that long! but i think we ort of cut it short to make sure we hit the requirement & the lady said since it's off season, & if we have more guests, she'll give us the discount if they have they the room!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
