RIU Montego Bay May-August Brides 2013

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies, congrats to all :)

New to the forum but have been reading posts the past few weeks trying to get as much firsthand information as possible. Definitely set on making my own bouquets for my bridesmaids- I have 10 so it would be cost effective and a way to make sure I love them. I don't mind paying, but I don't like to pay for things I don't love

Curious if anyone has any direct, recent feedback re: beach vs. steakhouse private reception?

We are having a beach wedding on 2/14/14 and it falls on Friday. I read in an earlier post that the resort starts a beach party on Friday nights and we planned to have a DJ, so just curious how that would work.

Also, saw the blue chairs in the steakhouse.... and to think they are the chairs they want to be used for a private reception (our colors are fuschia, cream and silver)

Any recent pricing available for chiavari chairs and what vendor?

I may start a new thread for RIU MB as I see most are a bit older with occasional updates and this one is set to May-August Brides.

Thanks!

Patrice

Hi my wedding is May 17, 2013 I booked it lat week got tired from looking around. For now I am expecting 25 guests. I chose the steakhouse for the reception but I agree that the place needs some decor. Has anyone booed any extras? I chose the gold package but I m anticipating to be paying a lot for all kinds of upgrades. My other concern is the reviews on tripadvisor of the hotel. Would love to see some new pictures of recent weddings. Has anyone booked a videographer.

Hi I'm also getting married in April 2014 here .... Hoping for the 10th but I'm still waiting to hear back ..... It's all so exciting! I'm hoping for a 3pm courtyard wedding..... Semi private meal and then the beach party at night.... I'm curious as to what decor you get with these so I can try and bring some rather than paying too much extra. Want the steel band and to make own boquets too! Happy planning ladies! Laura :)

Thanks Ashley

I decided to bring a photographer down with my family since she is a close friend and her parents will altready be there. I just hope I don't have to pay the vendor fee since she also will be a guest. I think i'm going to stick with the steakhouse rental for $1000 just to be safe and then hang at the bars after. No reason to pay for more stuff when I will have that whole reception at home. I am having a hard time trying to figure out what the day of the wedding will be like. Id like to put itinerary in my guest bags for my bridal party but I have no idea how things will work. I guess I'll just have to guess.! Good luck everyone

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi for my April 2014 wedding I've been told $350 set up fee for beach party, $300 per hr for dj and $15 pp for a bar tender at the party. They also offer bonfire for $200 and dancers (20 mins) for $500.... It's all very expensive. However I've seen a few photos of the beach party and it looks really pretty. I'm surprised at how expensive the photographer is .... Totally blowing my budget! Eeeeek! Hope this helps .... Laura :)

I'm getting married at the riu on July 19 2013 @ noon. So far the planning has been pretty easy. The responses from the wedding planner had been within a couple days so not too bad. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Oot bags? Planning? Etc.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
