RIU Montego Bay May-August Brides 2013

Recommended Posts

That sounds ok. Don't mind buffet style.  I'm guessing you've done your invites already. Did you go down the 'boarding pass'/'wallet invites' road? I just want something simple that will go out this month LOL. I made the save the dates last year. Got 4 bridesmaids/groomsmen. Only 6 booked from London  so far :(   but the bulk of my guests are coming from Jamaica (Fiances side).

Hi Ashley my wedding is April 6th at RIU. My fiance will be arriving on the 4th. I am so nervous but this site has actually made it better for me. Did you plan a rehearsal dinner? Who did you use for your photographer? I decided to get flowers from Tai which they wasnt that bad but I went with a lot of star fish and seashell for decor also. I am so excited and I cant wait. This will be my first time at RIU but my second time Montego Bay. Hopefully we can become chat buddies and I will be able to meet you when I arrive.

My wedding is booked for 8/8/13 at the Riu Mobay. We are JUST going to miss you!  So far we have sent out save the dates (no invitations) with a link to our wedding website for booking info.  Vista Print, around $50.  Silk flowers from littlebouquetshop.com (gorgeous flowers!) to be fedexed to the hotel so they don't get smooshed.  I'm super excited!  Just heard back from the coordinator so some decisions need to be made.  I just contacted the hotel photographer today, so waiting to hear back from him.  The finace picked out his linen shirt from islandimporter.com.  Now I just need to find a dress.

Good luck in your planning!

Hi Ladies!

yes, i am having a rehearsal- we have 8 people on either side, and Nekisha said if your wedding party is over 12 people a rehearsal is recommended. she also said we can meet with the minister before the wedding (i don't want it to be really religious- that is not really our thing). Mfraizer, don't worry about the resort, it's gorgeous and SO much fun. how many people are coming for your wedding?

for flowers, i did all of my own silk (they look absolutly stunning, and REAL!). as for photographer, we are just renting a really nice camera and bringing it along- going to designate one guest for the wedding to just take a ton of pictures.

Getting married June 13, 2013 and I feel like I have no clue what's going on. Should I bring decorations? Hire photographer? Right now we have 43 people booked and the max for the free dinner is 50 , however I can't seem to get a price on a private dinner. We will be doing the caprice package for the amount of people we have, and the sand ceremony. Should I be making my own flowers rather than buy theirs? I want my 7 bridesmaids to have something. I'm having a reception back here so maybe I should let this one flow as it is. Thoughts?

KLCunni- stop stressing! someone else posted a review that i read, and a lot of things made more sense. the girls at the resort do this 3 times a day, every weekend and weekday for a long time. even though they're really slow with responding to emails, they have it all under control. private dinner at the steakhouse is $1,000. beach dinner is $500 for set up and $55 per person for dinner. do you have the extras and optional services price sheet? i can email it to you if you don't have it already. i've heard so many complaints about the flowers being really expensive and not what the brides ordered. (and there is a $250 floral vendor fee) i bought a ton of silk flowers and made my own boquets... they look real and gorgeous. as for photographer, i'm renting a really nice camera and having whoever has the camera take as many pictures as possible. the photographers down there are great, but pretty expensive (from what i've read) let me know if you have any other questions! but YES, i would for the most part (with the exception of flowers) let everything flow.. like i said before they do it ALL the time, and i'm sure have figured out all the little details that we stress about.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
