OH WOW REALLY??? No off the racks for me I'm 4'11 I'm going to need a sh** load of alterations!! Man I better get a move on then! No we made the decision based on reviews/pictures/pricing/location that we wanted to get married at that resort so I guess we are just going to confirm our decision... Lets hope we fall in love with it in person. I have been working on some DIY projects and starting ordering little details for reception but that's about it.

I LOVE this idea Lori! Would you be willing to share where you got the maracas?
Of course!! They are from Amols.com very inexpensive. $1.95/pair

Ordered my dress! They told me it will take 6 months to come in and they like to start alterations 4 months prior. I had no idea it took so long!

Found 'em - so cute! Thanks Lori!
Yay!! The maracas are super popular for wedding favors, I didn't want to run the risk of waiting till next year to order and them being sold out!

Soooo, I went to 3 different dress appointments and I have found the one!!! Have another appointment next week to try it on and I'll be saying "Yes to the dress" that day!!!! How is everyones planning going? I have sent out my save the dates already but people can't book yet since the flights are not out yet. When is it a good time to start bridesmaid dress shopping?

Hi Lori,

Congrats on finding your dress! Its such an awesome feeling. I started shopping for my maid of honour's dress really early, at the beginning of august because that was when I was back home in Ontario to go shopping with my sister and mother. I'm hoping to take my Matron of honour out around January/February to chose her dress as we live in the same city and work together. I believe it only takes about three months to get the bridesmaid dresses in, not nearly as long as our dresses take to come in. I ordered my sister's the beginning of August and its expected for her to pick it up in October maybe November. If that's any sort of indication.

How many bridesmaids do you actually have, as that might be the biggest trouble coordinating to go dress shopping with them. I only have the two, my sister and my one of my best girlfriends. They aren't wearing the same dress, but will both be in the same colour and fabric, but I'm letting them chose their own dress with my approval just so I can make sure the actual dresses will look good together next July.

Hope that helps!

Liana

    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
