New and no idea what to do/where to start

Hey everyone!

Boy do I feel better after finding this website. It seems so helpful. My husband and I were married 08/28/11 but had no ceremony, party or anything with hopes to renew our vows and throw a real wedding in the coming years.

Now I am "ready" to plan I have no idea where to start. I still don't know if I will be able to afford a decent sized wedding or if I should do something super small. It seems like many people use travel agents, are those helpful?

I am super lost and overwhelmed. Ideally I would love to marry between 04/2014 - 08/2014 somewhere in Dominican Republic. Maybe La Romana (I love Dreams), but Santo Domingo seems cheaper and def more accessible for my family over there.

I am going to browse this site in hopes for some guidance. Any recommendations or tips are welcome! cheesy.gif

Welcome!! If you are unsure of what to do hers what I suggest. Set a budget and then ask your guest what is the most they want to spend. That should narrow down your search some as well.Reasearch resorts in the area you want to go to that fit what you are looking for and that fit your budget.

Congrats azua617 ... and welcome to the wonderful resource of this amazing forum community ! you'll find tons of great info here to help you make the best plans for your dream vow renewal-wedding celebration!

If you're open to a boutique hotel on the north shore of the DR, there's a small intimate venue right at Cabarete that would be an excellent choice for a small group - like about 2 dozen people.

It's called "Vecinos" and there's a link to their website here......http://www.our-dominican-republic.com/accommodations.html

The closest airport to them is Puerto Plata (airport code POP) or Samana (airport code AZS)

Wishing you all the best with your planning process and that your wedding celebration is everything you hope for! Enjoy :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
