Hi ladies,

After trying to call the Resort and Giselle several times and either being out on hold or disconnected and not having emails returned for 3-4 weeks I have decided not to have my wedding at the ILA, but would love to stay on this chat since you all have posted some really great info and ideas since we will still be having a destination wedding.

Oh thats too bad Jamdrea! But I can understand your frustration... ILA was one of my top resorts but we decided to go with the Playa Pesquero. One of the reasons being the wedding co-ordinator gets back to you very quickly once you have booked the wedding. I think she took about 1.5 weeks for the first time, but once I booked I hear from her usually by end of day, if not defintely next day. I don't want the added stress of not being able to hear from the co-ordinator. Although I do know this is a common problem with most places. Have you thought about another resort yet?

No we actually decided on the Grand Palladium in Punta Cana DR instead. I emailed the wedding coordinator there are heard back each time within 1-2 days max so the communication is great and all the wedding packages and information are available online. Its a shame bc they are losing brides booking their weddings there since they are understaffed. Anyway I'm just excited to be somewhere tropical with all my family to celebrate our wedding :)

Oh that will be nice! I would have liked DR just for the fact that a lot is available to you, whereas with Cuba you have to bring decorations and everything with you, but my hubby to be's only stipulation was that if it was going to be down south he wanted it to be in Cuba. He is one of those people who likes things he already knows and he hasn't been to the DR before. Nonetheless I am excited and can't wait since will be somewhere hot and tropical and I do love Cuba!

I personally love the DR we went about 5 years ago and it was our best holiday to date! I looked into it for our DW but it was way too expensive for our guests. But you will have a fantastic time anywhere tropical and now you can rest assured that someone is looking after you, you dont need that sort of stress wondering if they are going to email you back or even remember your date!  I gave up a hotel in Mexico for the same reason.

Jolene have you been to Cuba before? I have been to the DR and I did like it but I actually prefer Cuba. I just liked the idea of being able to have everything available to me there! When I was there though I went to Puerto Plata and I haven't been to Punta Cana which is where I would have liked to go... oh well it will just be another trip we'll have to make at another time!

I have been to Cuba, and I really did enjoy it, we went to Punta Cana and everything from the hotel to the food was amazing! But the price has gone up so much and you're right there isnt a lot off the resort to do, so for that reason we couldn't ask people to pay so much to hang out at the resort but if I lived in Ontario and could go for way cheaper then I think thats where I would do it.

When we were in Cuba, we loved it but the weather there is very unpridictable and it was freezing when we were there in February, but I do like all it has to offer including the safety factor with all the bad press in Mexico and such I didn;t want people to have that as a reason not to come, plus I dont think that a lot of people think about a holiday in Cuba I know that out of the people coming that do travel a lot haven't been to Cuba so this will be an experience for all!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
