Ohhh those are awesome Jolene! I love it! I especially love the map idea! Thats great!!! I have ultimately decided on getting married at the Playa Pesquero in Holguin, but since there doesn't seem to be a ton of Cuba Brides out there... I'll probably stick around in this thread for other ideas if thats ok haha!

Thanks I am pretty excited about them, I am glad that I didnt fight it trying to design them myself. one less headache and one more thing checked off the list of to dos.

Oh I have heard the Iberostar Varadero is amazing! I would have liked to go there but it was out of the price range we wanted to keep for guests unfortunately. I had been thinking of doing a puzzle guest book. We'd get a wood puzzle made with one of our engagement photos on it and have the guests sign the back cause we like to do puzzles haha! But I almost think I like your idea better because its so easy to pack and you can frame it once you get home! Are you guys bringing your own flowers or using the ones provided by the resort?

Yeah I was actually luck kind of there was a big mess up with my TA at the beginning so they cut their fees and got Air Transit to come down as well so make a long story short we got our price per person under $1500 which is right where we wanted to be.

Yeah I thought about a ton of guestbook ideas and saw so many here but this is light roll it up take it bring it back the same way and then get a nice frame when we get home!

I have gone back and forth struggling with the flower thing, on the one hand I love those big boqueys that you see brides carrying here so that makes me want to make one, but on the other hand you are in paradise and I am sure that the flowers will reflect that so I have a hard time justifying fake flowers at my wedding in the tropics... so I think that I am just going to go with what they provide. But there is a long time and I may change my mind... I know that I am going to bring fake petals to line the aisle with becasue I heard thsoe are really expensive.

All you ladies are welcome even if it is a different resort, more the better! :)

Right now we are working on our group rate, a little stressful, but I think we have made a final decision! AHHHH sigh of relief lol.

I just did a practise bouquet on the weekend to see if I could do it, and it was so easy!!! i love it, started with just the flower heads, added "steams" and made the bouquet.  I really was happy with the outcome.  Here is the example bouquet:

700

700

700

This is very rough draft and going to end up being my toss bouquet.

The actual bouquets will be bigger for my girls & mine a little bigger than theirs.  with more than one blue/purple orchid.

What do you all think?!?!?!

Next to try is my DIY bout. & corsages!!!

Happy Planning

Ohhhh Kay the bouquet looks awesome! I am so on the fence about the fake flowers... I mean I have seen some of the real touch ones and they are beautiful and we are having a catholic wedding ceremony when we return so I figure we can use them again at that ceremony as well as in Cuba. I find some of the cuban bouquets to be a bit dated so I am not sure, but I am also budget concious so maybe making them myself would a good alternative... Kay where did you get your flowers from? Michaels?

I

What are you guys planning on doing for table decorations or centrepieces? I am having my reception on the beach and want to have a sweet heart table with banquet tables in a square so everyone can still interact. But I am unsure of what to do for centrepieces as I don't want them to be too high and also since I'll be bringing them I don't want anything too heavy!  Let me know if you guys have any ideas!

And Jolene! Thats a fantastic price for that resort! I don't know where you are flying from but I live in Halifax and  I looked and it was about 1600$ to $1700 and we definitely didn't want to spend that much. Not so much for ourselves but for our guests... we are trying to keep it under $1300 preferably under $1200. And for Playa Pesquero I think we can get that which makes me happy! Since we've been there before we at least know what to expect and it was a fantastic resort!

Thank you Csho, I knew I wanted to do fake flowers, just because I didn't want to be let down if the resort didn't have anything I wanted at the time.  But some bouquets I have seen are lovely.  It is very easy to do, I could always show you somehow if you decide to do it.  I was looking into ordering my silk flowers from Bloom Bridal in Toronto, but they quoted me $850 ish for 8 bouquets, 8 bout.'s & 3 corsages.  When my total cost for DIY ones is just under $200.  I got the white roses from Ebay;

& I got my blue/purple orchids from Afloral:

For table decorations for the DW, I have purchased silk wedding petals from ebay and I am going sprinkle them down the centre of the whole table, I figured these were so easy to travel with.

Here are the silk flower petals, theyre amazing quality & a steal!

(They come in a bunch of different colours.

For my AHR we are probably going to do the silk flowers again and this as a centre piece:

700

(Not the white lantern).

Kay, that is amazing, I find it hard to believe that is your first go at it, looks like you do them all the time... I am so torn of what to do with this, I want to do it I dont want to do it, LOL oh the pressure of having so much time nothing really has to be decided right now!

Csho, Well I was working with a TA starting back in August and she got me an amazing price to go to this resort, $1200 which by the way flying from Calgary is amazing, just as I went in to book I got an email that my TA had a family emergency and she was out of the office and no one knew when she would be back... so it took about 3 weeks for someone else to contact me, I started getting quotes from other TA's onl;y to find out that the trip was now 1900 a person... so finally they got back to me and the new girl requoted and it was 2100 a person I almost died, when I demanded answers she told me that my original TA quoted me for November 2012 not 2013, (which thank goodness that I keep every email that I have ever sent to them). Then they told me there was nothing that they could dom I hate that answer coming from someone that is going to take my money so I freaked out and emailed head office and the western reginal manager got back to me and here we are 1500 (just under actually) So a big head ache but it was worth it, I havent seen it under 2100 on any site that I have gone too, also the flight that we are on is now sold out. We have a friend that works for West jet and even with her discount my price was even better so I really lucked out thats for sure, but dont stress out the bride. LOL

Centre Pieces - Not sure, right now I am thinking that I am going to get fake petals and crystals and just scatter them on the table, but again so much time nothing is making me chose right now!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
