DH Gate Experiences

Recommended Posts

I think I might go with something more simple. Not only is the dress really complicated, the pictures they have aren't clear. So the best they can do is improvise which is a huge gamble!  If you had a little more time, i would strongly suggest jasminesbridalshop - they have great reviews but it takes about 3 months for a custom made dress.

Hi,

I have been reading these threads with great interest. I am the MOB of a bride who fell in love with a dress that is far too expensive.  Since we are going the traditional route and are paying for their wedding ( they are an old-school young couple), I thought we would give DHGate a try.

The dress she wants is inspired by the Pronovias "Dalia" gown...I'll see if I can post a pic. I just joined the forum. She really wants a classic look from the early 1960's, and we have looked through vintage shops and online vintage and can't find the right one....she is five foot 9. The size 0-2 back then all seem to be very short.

Anyway, I read several hundred pages of imported wedding gown threads and came up with a few companies I would deal with, inlcuding babyonline, beautybride, dressilyme, and  weddingdress88. I can't figure out where I got that last name .. I lost the thread, but for some reason, they were the front runner.

So we ordered from weddingdress88 today! Kind of excited. The dress we envision is simple ... full satin gown, bodice, with see-through lace at the shoulders, big four inch satin sash at waist, box pleats. Very 1962.

There is no ruching, or crazy ruffles or tricky drop waists to deal with. It is a straight-forward dress style, so hopefully it will go well.

I will try to post pics, but at any rate, I am glad to have found this forum and will enjoy being a member here.CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 100

Just to let you know, the weddingdress88 people seem to be fantastic to work with. They email me the day they get the email. I asked a specific question about the lace on the top. I have seen some dresses come back with different lace than what is used in the inspiration dress, which is understandable, so I just asked them to send me pictures of the lace they were considering using before the sew it on, because I don't want to make extra work for them ... tearing it out and starting over, etc.

She said, "Don't worry. It will be the exact same lace."

I will keep you posted. Thanks for replying.

Just another note. I got an email saying "not to worry" ( I wasn't) but the dress will be finished before their spring festival, so we will be getting it in two to three weeks, it looks like.

That is really fast.

They are sending pictures before they mail it. If the dress is as good as their communication and attentiveness, then these guys are a treasure!

I just got the pictures of my dress from the seller. I'm super happy with the skirt! It's a replica of Rosa Clara 164 Rosal, and I noticed there are ribbons missing that are going along the seams around the bodice. I asked them if it's possible to add the ribbons. The seller is hua_yi_zhang (Denia's bridal). But even without the ribbons I am happy with the dress.

FYI girls...I ordered from lightinthebox and am EXTREMELY happy. The reviews are almost always wonderful, so I felt pretty secure in using. Wonderful quality, perfect fit. Can't say enough good! DHgate made me a little nervous as it reps MANY vendors. Just my 2 cents worth. Good Luck!!

That's awesome, Becky!  Glad to hear you're so happy.  I ordered a dress off Lightinthebox as well and although I don't have it yet I've also heard great reviews and it shipped within 2 weeks of ordereing - it's supposed to be here on Wednesday!   Pretty impressed so far.

    • I love etsy!! It's a great place to find personalized gifts without such a hefty price tag. I was thinking of getting my bridesmaids personalized necklaces with their names on them. I found these ones that are affordable and you can pick the chain length and different fonts, so you can really make them your own and pick what you know each bridesmaid will want. https://www.etsy.com/listing/595334072/personalized-name-necklace-stainless?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=personalized necklace&ref=sc_gallery-3-9&plkey=a8662525c53ec285c1b46b0f308162d0591edff8:595334072
    • Hi everyone, I am so happy that I am getting married to the love of my life. He proposed me and we are getting married within in a couple of months. And I have started preparations for my big day. I am super excited about a lot of things and also worried about many things.I have some inhibitions about my face and skin. Since I am a working woman, I have never got much time for personal care. This is the right time for it now. I need  proper medical grade skin care. Want to improve my skin tone and texture  I read some details about it here, https://www.mcleanclinic.com/nonsurgical-procedures/non-surgical/skin-care/, and found it really helpful. Can anyone of you suggest me some more tips? Like what I can do at home to have a glow on my face?  Thanks in advance.
