Dreams Cabo brides past, present, and future please help

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I have just sent my deposit and secured my date at the Dreams :) I am so excited but have a few questions. I have been on here reading all of these threads but I am very confused. We chose the Dreams Ultimate package (which appears to include photos, video, some flowers, hair and makeup etc) but what if we want a different vendor than the ones the Dreams is going to offer us? For example, I have been reading great things about Neysa and Suzanne for hair and makeup and I would like them to do mine. Will the resort let me hire them and give me a credit toward using them instead of their own staff? Can someone please just explain how these "packages" work as far as the vendors. Same thing for the flowers. Obviously I would like more flowers than what the package offers so how does this all work? Mariana is on vacation till the end of December so I just need some peace of mind lol Thanks!!!

Congratulations on booking your date! We are getting married at Dreams on 4/12/13! We did our site visit this past October and Dreams is fabulous! We got the Dreams of Love package and of course we wanted more photography so I asked my WC Yesica about hiring an outside vendor and getting credit for the included photography. She told me that they can not do that. The package is a set price whether you use everything included or not. I would assume that goes for hair & flowers as well. So what I did was contacted their in house photographer & we added 3 extra hours with them for $799. So now we get 4 hours instead of just one that's included plus a ton of extra photos. Our package includes the bouquet as well as 2 corsages & 2 boutonnières which they are allowing me to trade those 4 items for a maid of honor bouquet. I have also ordered 3 centerpieces for the reception tables through my WC and am paying $50 for each. I just thought it would be easier to use the WC than going through a florist. I've been told that if there are many things in the package that you don't want then it may be best to do everything a la carte. Have you decided on music? We have hired DJ Ricardo because our package doesn't include music. We do have to pay $90 for the outside vendor fee. I believe the package you chose includes one hour of music? When is your wedding date? I hope some of my info helped!!

Hello fellow Dreams Cabo brides :o)

My fiance and I have booked our wedding at Dreams, our date is November 19th 2013!!! I tried to make contact with the photographer that is included in the wedding package by visiting their website to see if I can add more pics/time to our wedding package (Ultimate) but have not had a response. Can you tell me who you contacted to add extra photography time?

I am so glad I have joined BDW, I think this will be a great help in making some tough decisions. Thanks!

Hello Fellow Cabo Brides :o)

My fiance and I have booked our wedding at Dreams, our wedding date in November 19 2013!! So excited! I have a question regarding LeAnn's post about the extra hours for photography. I visited the photographer website (http://dreamsloscabos.adventurephotos.com.mx/) that is included in the wedding package to contact them about the option of adding additional photos (50 is just not enough!) and have yet to hear back from them. Can you tell me who you contacted to get the extra photo time?

Thanks so much! So glad I joined BDW, I think this will be extremely helpful in making all upcoming tough decisions!

I am having the same problem! I am getting married 10 days before you :)  I just emailed Mariana because the photographers have not replied to me and they are the only vendor that this has happened with! (of course it's probably the most important one...grrr)

Le Ann did you have the same problem that we are having getting in touch with the photographers?

Looks like this happens often with them!!  The first time I e-mailed them, they replied within a week giving me details on price and packages.  The second time I e-mailed them telling them I would take the extra 3 hours, it seriosuly took them 2 months to reply.  That is not a joke!!!!  I continuously asked my wedding coordinator Yesica about it.  She assured me that everything would be fine because they are on site and have more than one photographer for weddings.  This I do know to be true since we did our site visit.  It seemed like the photography booth was always busy.  I have no idea why they take so long to reply.

When they replied finally, they told me that they had me down for a total of 4 hours on April 12, 2013.  That was all the email said - after waiting 2 months for the reply!!!!  I e-mailed them back to see how I would pay.  We are trying to pay for our entire wedding before we get there.   But there reply just said, you pay us when you get here.  They scheduled an appointment with us 3 days before the wedding to go over details and that was it!!

So Ladies, it isn't only you!!  I would definitely let your WC know that you plan on using them and ask her to verify that they have openings on your wedding days!!

It also took the spa about a month to reply to book my hair and makeup appointment!!  It's just the way it is there!  and when you get there, you'll see how slow things seem to go!!  Which is good when you're there but not so good when we are trying to plan our weddings!!!

Hope this helped!!

Lauren, please keep us posted on your wedding planning.  I recently booked my wedding for Dreams in Cabo for 6/14/14.  I would really appreciate the updates on your vendors, as I will be going through the same process as you (we also chose the Ultimate package).  I haven't exactly started to dive into the vendors - i feel like it's too early, but do you ladies think I need to get started on the soon?  Any help would be appreciated!

Congrats to you Lauren and Happy Planning! :)

Hi andie! Thank you and congrats to you as well! So here is a brief break down of what I have so far: DJ- We booked DJ Ricardo and he was VERY responsive to all my emails and he seems very familiar with Dreams and their set up. Hair/Makeup- I booked Neysa Berman for my hair and makeup, my mother and my future mother in law. I asked Mariana (my wedding coordinator at Dreams) if I can use the hair in makeup in my package for my bridesmaids to get their hair and makeup done by the hotel and she said yes. Neysa is a little expensive but had great reviews so I didn't mind spending a little extra Photos: Although we did not want to spend more money on another outside vendor, we figured we were going to have to add money to our package of photos anyway so we looked into some photographers and decided on Gilda Badillo. Flowers: We are using Emporio (they are the vendor that is included in our package) We are going to have to add on again since the package does not have enough. That is all we have so far! I wanted to get everyting out of the way early. Plan now relax later kinda thing lol :) We are stll looking into maybe having some fire dancers or some kind of entertainment at the reception. I will keep you posted what we find! I got engaged in November and started planning pretty much right away for my November 9, 2013 wedding. I'm pretty new to this but I would say its not too early. I'm glad I got all of my stuff pretty much out of the way so quickly because I did not want to stress closer to the wedding. Hope this all helped a little!!

Hello Ladies! :)

I am also getting married at Dream. My wedding date is 7/27/13, JUST SIX MONTHS AWAY!!!

My invitations are finally out and my guests have started RSVP'ing. Selecting an invitation was a process of it's own but feel free to contact me if you have any questions. My passport invitations were a big success!

We chose to go with the Love Package but added a few outside vendors. Gilda Badillo for extra pictures as my fiance and I love pictures and we want to have as many as possible. I plan on asking my WC Yesica if we can use the photographer included in our package for the rehearsal dinner. Not sure if it's possible but I'm going to ask. I chose Florenta Flowers as my florist because she works very closely with Dreams and offered me a credit on her total for the money I paid towards the flowers in my package. She takes a long time to reply but I love her work and her blog is updated on a regular basis. I also love her Facebook page Florenta Flower Design. We booked Ron Weber as our DJ. Anyone heard anything about him? I really thought about just plugging in our iPod but I don't want to bother any of my guests by making them the unofficial DJ, plus I think the announcements at a wedding are so important. I think that might be it for outside vendors.

Travel Agent - I'm working with Teresa Stauring of Vacations for Less, Inc. and she has been AMAZING! She always gets back to me quickly and answers all my questions clearly. We booked a 10 room block for our guests and she made everything easy and pain free. I highly recommend her.

I still have so many little things to take care of like booking hair and make-up, favors, and so on but for the most part the big things are all taken care of. Hope this was helpful! Feel free to contact me with questions.

xo!

Melissa

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
