I've set my RSVP dead line 2 months before my wedding... Also because alot of the contracts we have need to be finalized 45 days before the wedding. I figure we'll just have to call (get our mothers to call) those who don't RSVP by the dead line.

I asked for RSVPs back 3 months before our wedding. Most people sent them back either right away, or just as the deadline was approaching. I still haven't received about 30% of them, but I know it is people that won't be attending anyways. Still, I took the time to create and send you the invite, and included a stamped return envelope, it would be nice for you to take the 2 minutes to check a box and put the envelope in the mail. doh.gif  I do still have one person/family that sent the RSVP back saying they were attending (4 of them) but still haven't booked and we are about 1.5 months out from the wedding. I don't want to keep bugging her, but I'm going to need a final count pretty soon!

Man this makes me feel a lot better- some of the other threads I saw were giving one or two months in advance for the RSVP- I was really hoping I could do more like 5-6 months just for ease of mind and knowing how many of what I need to get/ what I can afford for welcome bags etc!!! Did anyone get negative feedback for having the RSVPs due so soon?

I still don't have all my RSVP's back and NOW 4 months before my wedding I have 10 additional guests to add on my FI's side of the family. Long story! Sigh... Now I don't know what I can afford as far as OOT bags and can't finish all my DIY projects for my guests until I have a final head count :/

I did not get negative feedback; our date is July 18, and we have made our RSVPs for the end of March. So far we have gotten ONE RSVP back in the mail. Quite a few people have called or texted us or the families to tell us they cannot come, or they contacted our travel agent right away, but apparently they thought the RSVP cards (postcards) were too cute to get rid of. Seriously? What are they going to do with them? Wish I had not spent money on stamps!

Melissa, when is your final payment due? Ours is middle of April (which is why I made the RSVPs end of March)... Now I am a little worried that we will end up with people contacting between the RSVP and final payment date - or worse, after the final payment date - to come or not. I will just take it easy though - you book after that, you are on your own for group stuff I think. I have been collecting OOT stuff off and on throughout our engagement. This weekend I am putting together what I have for the people we know are coming - and maybe one or two extra. So glad I do not have 10 extra like you!

My final payment date is June 27th one month before the wedding BUT I'm trying to get all the OOT bags together and printing brochures for everyone to put in the bags that have all my guests names on them. I don't want to have to scratch all my wedding ideas to accommodate people who don't know how to RSVP BangHead.gif

I'm such an easy going person but this process is bringing out the B**** in me! LOL Oooohhh wedding stress!

Oh Good! I'm glad noone had any negative feedback- I sent out my save the dates a year in advance b/c I wanted to give people as much  notice as possible- so like you guys have said- most will probably know if they are going to come or not. I think it will just come down to price and commitments- That's so frustrating about RSVPs- I don't think people really realize how much we count on them!!

I am surprised you ladies have the rsvp date so close to the wedding. Mine is next year April, and i am trying to get my guests to rsvp by next months, 9 months before wedding. first, i want to know how many people for reception/ catamarian cruise purposes ( i need to choose either depend on how many guests), then, I am scared if they don't reserve now, the price will go up especially for both flights and hotel, I don't want my guests to pay more than they have to. Third, after the guests reserves, I can finally get ready and prepare the DIY boarding pass mail invitation. But, true, I know some guests can't make the decision until a lot closer to the wedding date, i understand that. But i wish the majority of people would respond.

It doesn't mater how long you give them! I am 32 days away and I am about to lose my mind over it. All I know is that the people that matter will be there and responded right away.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
