Newbie-- where do I start?!

Hello all, my name is Laurie, and my fiancé & I just got engaged in October. We have decided on a destination wedding in Cancun after looking at prices for a local Wedding in FL. That is as far as we have gotten in the planning. Oh and potentially a date in Oct 2013. I have been looking at this site for a while but this is the first chance I had to post. We have a ton of things going on this end of year, but we realize if we want to make an October date we will have to get busy now with picking a place and even finalizing a date. I had considered The Beloved Hotel in playa mujeres, and Azul Sensatori in Puerto Morelos. After reading a few posts in here I am also considering a Travel Angent... Any words of advise and opinions will be greatly appreciated!!!

Hello,

Welcome to BDW.

If you are looking at The Beloved and Azul Sensatori you will definitely want to use a TA.  We are one of the only travel agency that held a wedding webinar for both those resorts.

You might want to try one of the BDW Travel Agents.  We Specialize in Destination weddings at both of those resorts.  You can contact us HERE!

You can read some of our reviews here: Wright Travel Agency ~ Destination Wedding Specialist Reviews HERE

Also, have you thought of doing a site visit?  Azul Sensatori has what is called Karisma Bride's Dress Rehearsal and for $399 per couple you get to go to the resort, do site visits, food tasting, meet wedding coordinators, etc.  It is a great deal and a great way to make sure the location is right for you.

Wright Travel Agency is also a Karisma GI Wedding Coordinator and just recently won their award for top destination wedding specialist so we have special perks only available through us.

I actually thought about not using a TA but I thought I'd get a quote anyways because it didn't work. I just started to work with Wright Travel Agency and their prices are outstanding! Way better than what I could have done on my own. I also am booking 5+ rooms though. It doesn't hurt to at least give it a shot to see what they would say.

I am in hopes that it will eliminate some of the stress for organizing the trips with my guests. We'll see!

thanks for the recommendation!  We have great relationships with both The Beloved and Azul Sensatori.

The Beloved is a smaller resort so you will def. want to do a group block as it sells out often.  Azul Sensatori offers us some great amenities for group blocks so that is a great reason to block rooms!

Without getting spammed by advertisers or people trying to solicit you, my fiance and I are going through Destinationweddings.com and we have chosen them instead of an in person travel agency near us simply because I figured I'd give it a shot and have not looked back.  You're probably thinking how helpful can a "dedicated wedding rep" be, who knows where they're located and how often will we have contact with them...I get it and I was the same way.  We have a rep in New Jersey (we're in MD) and she's available anytime I need her, call her on her cell, shoot her an email, super responsive and helpful! There's a $50 deposit, but once you book your resort, you get it deducted from your reservation! If you have questions, PM me! Good luck and congrats! We're also having an Oct 2013 wedding in Riviera Maya at El Dorado Royale!!

I highly, highly recommend going with a Travel Agent, and one who specialized in destination weddings. It'll take a lot of stress off your plate. Even better that they can help you narrow down your options and find the perfect location for your wedding. Happy planning!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
