I have a question for past brides.... if you could go back in time to select your dress for your destination wedding, would you still buy a full length lined gown??? I worry about being too hot as my wedding is at noon!
I sure would in a heartbeat! My dress was heavy with ruffles on the bottom and a full on non-destination wedding dress and I LOVED every moment in it!

I haven't been married yet, but I have purchased my dress... I originally had an idea of the type of dress I wanted, but found most of that style to be heavy and hot on my legs (the ones I tried on anyway) so then I started veering towards more of the "destination" type dresses, lighter and flowy, but I just didn't love any of them. And then I tried on the one I ended up buying, and it was the same style I had originally thought I'd get, but it was lighter then most of the other types I had tried on and didn't "stick" to my legs like the other ones... I know I am going to be hot in my dress but I love it so much and its so figure flattering on me and makes me feel so beautiful! So I feel like I found a compromise (although I don't feel like I compromised at all) but found the best one for me thats lighter weight yet still exactly what I was looking for! If that makes any sense? I tried on a lot of dresses and the first few times out was really just kind of find what I thought would work. It was hard work finding "the dress" but it will happen and you will know! Have fun shopping!

Hi all!

I was wondering how do you all feel about short dresses?

I feel like most people are against them (I say this because a couple of people I have mentioned that I was thinking of a short dress to, have reacted in shock and have made me feel like i was in the complete wrong for even considering it!)

I am a very petite bride - I am only 4'10"

I feel as if a regular full length gown would swallow me! I have worn longer gowns before. I had a quinceanera princess ball gown when I was 15, so I know I do not want to do that again.

I am also a bit on the different, unconventional, totally non traditional side of things.

What do you all think? (I will be trying on my first wedding dresses this coming Memorial Day weekend!)

You definitely need to go with whatever you want! This is your day and you are the one who will be looking back at your photos and remembering how you felt on your wedding day, so you need to go with whatever it is that you want!!! I think short dresses look fantastic on the beach!

I have seen some really beautiful tea length dresses- which might be the route you are looking for. They reach to slightly above the ankle and are really a great way to show off some sexy shoes. Like CSHO said- it's all about what makes you feel like a bride and not what others think. I learned that sometimes you cannot even share details about your day with others, you just have to do what you want and they will see the finished product. If you share too much info, everyone will offer their opinions whether you want them or not and then if you please them and ignore your heart, you end up regretting it. My advice is that when you truly dresses on- try different styles. Try a few tea length, try longer ones. You might surprise yourself. I thought I wanted the poofy bridal gown and I went against my own taste!

I am short too - though not as short as you. I originally was toying with the idea of a shorter dress - that was FI's request, and I thought it would be great on a beach. I had a lot of eyebrows raised at me about getting a short one though. And I ended up getting a longer one. It was hard to try short ones on when shopping, since they would have had to be shortened to get the full effect, so it was hard to tell what did and did not work.

For me, personally, tea-length did not work, but I am a little curvy and they made me seem round. Ones about knee-length were much better; very comfortable and fun.

I say, though, go for it. Go for what you want, what would make you comfortable and feel beautiful. At the end of the day, THAT will look better than pictures of you unhappy in a more traditional dress, just because it is what everyone thought you "should" wear. There are some awesome short dresses out there! I love the look and the idea of a short one. Perfect for a beach. Try on lots, and see what works for you. And be sure to post lots and lots of pictures!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
