I have  a question about wedding dress with veil.  Unfortunately I can't post my dress yet - but to give you an idea, it's a mermaid cut, strapless sweetheart neckline, with vertical ruffles all around.  The dress doesn't have any bling on it or anything other than a few appliques.  I won't be wearing a sash.  And there is no crenoline or anything under the skirt to give it volume, so it's not poofy at all.  The fabric is silk taffeta.  So....I know I DEF want to wear a veil - I don't like the idea of a blusher for me, and a chapel length is just way too long and formal for my taste.  I thought I'd want fingertip length, but keep reading that it can cut your porportions off in appearance.  I'm pretty short at only 5'1, and need any bit of help I can get in looking taller, lol so being cut off is not an option for me.  So now, I've been considering waltz-length veils, single layer of tulle.  I think I want to have my hair done in a low ponytail to the side with curts, which I'll then pin up into a "messy bun" for the reception if I get too hot.  Any thoughts on this length of veil with a mermaid gown and look as I've described above?
I would go for a veil with some sparkle to it, hitting right where your dress flairs. That's what mine was. If you look back a few pages, there are pics of my dress with my veil on...
for anyone who has ALREADY gotten married/wire their dress.. what do you think about trains for a beach wedding?  i hear people telling me it gets fullo f sand.. i would like at least a little bit of a train, i don't want the dress even all the way around like a prom dress but i don't want to be dragging sand around either...
I wore my train full out for the ceremony. I think it just adds another romantic element to the day. It wasn't bad at all in terms of dragging sand around or being full of sand, it honestly got dirtier walking around the resort itself. I also had my dress crazy bustled for the reception, there were 46 bustle points to help get rid of the train...

Hi Pucca,

You looked beautiful, great choice!  I did go for my second fitting:

Here is the dress on me.  I liked it more this time, since I had basic make-up and all of my accessories.  I desperately need a tan though!  It still was big though on the bust and waist so they have to take it in more.  I did not want to take it off, so I think that is a good sign!  Thanks again for your help everyone!

Lauren

Went on my 2nd more serious shopping trip with my family. I feel like there is something wrong with me. I can't seem to have that "moment" the above two dresses were my favorite but still didn't have that moment nor did my family. I'm just curious what are your opinions on these 2? To pagenty?

Its honestly what you feel most comfortable in! I don't think they look like pagent dresses at all..I like the first over the 2nd, but I definately think you need to shop around until you have that "moment"..try different styles and fabrics especially if you have enough time to keep looking!!

First dress is my preference, but I also encourage more shopping trips. The moment varies from bride to bride, but this should definitely be a purchase/experience that evokes emotion and should be based on more than just liking a dress. Best of luck on your dress search.

I like the first one, too. you may not have that 'moment' - my mom even cried at the wrong dress because that's the one they put the veil on first with. but we both knew there was something special about the dress I ultimately picked. I couldn't stop thinking about it that night. actually, the obsession started before I tried it on. I saw pictures online and figured it wouldn't look right, but it ended up being the one I couldn't get out of my head! : ) keep trying different dresses, even those you thought you'd hate until you find something that makes you smiiiiiiiiile. then you'll know.

I like the second one! But i seem to be alone on this one!

I didnt really have the moment either.. But if you have the time keep looking! Like the other girls said try different fabrics and silouttes. Pick what you are most comfortable in and what you can see yourself marrying your man in! Whichever makes you feel the best! Good luck with the search!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
