I think this dress looks great on you. Adding the sweetheart neckline will definitely look fabulous!!

I think with the sweetheart neckline it will look absolutely gorgeous! And I don't know why you'd want to lose 20 pounds, unless you're thinking of your health like jmastr05 said! You have a great figure! I think sometimes we go into wedding dress shopping with too many ideas in our heads, especially when all the models in wedding dress magazines are thin and tall (I'm stocky and short with broad shoulders). The dress I wanted from pictures I'd seen ended up looking awful on me. And the dress I ordered was definitely not what I envisioned purchasing but it had all the elements I wanted and things I didn't think I'd like. It actually was totally me, my friends said, despite the fact that it was nothing like what they thought I might purchase.

But I definitely had my doubts after ordering my dress. I ordered it in December and didn't see it again till May. Halfway between December and May I went and tried on this other dress (at a party dress store) because it just caught my eye and I thought it was beautiful and perfect for a beach wedding, not to mention something nontraditional which I wanted. The fabric flowed more, there was color in it which I had always thought would be fun and it fit me perfectly. I was in agony for days, so much so that I decided to go back to the bridal salon with a friend (who saw me in the other dress) to try on the sample of my dress. Since she had seen me in both she was able to give me an honest opinion about both dresses and she LOVED the original dress I had chosen hands down over the other one. Of course I still stared at the picture of me in the party dress for the next week but I put it out of my mind eventually, especially after my fiance told me to go with my gut instincts and stop thinking about everything else (I even showed him the dress so that I would not be tempted to buy it, since he hasn't and won't see my wedding dress till the big day). But the day I went to try on my dress that had finally come in I knew I had chosen the right one. It needed some alterations but overall I absolutely loved it. I didn't cry or anything (I didn't even cry the first day I said yes to that dress; I just left the store grinning like an idiot); my friend said I just glowed. I can tell you now, after all my alterations have been done, I am sooooooo happy about my dress, and so happy that I put the other one out of my mind because it doesn't compare.

So remind yourself why you chose the dress and what you love about it. If you need a physical reminder, go back and try it on again. Maybe it'll help you with the doubts.

Hi,

Your dress is beautiful! It reminds me a lot of the one I ordered. If you don't mind sharing, where did you get that veil. I've been searching for a veil that will look good with the dress. Unfortunately, I purchase a Spring 2012 that's not out on the market yet so I've been having trouble pairing a nice veil. Thanks in advance!

Peach,

Davids is available in Scarborough and Mississauga now if you are GTA... prices are a little more but not that much different when you factor in gas!  (if you are GTA)

While I was trying on the dress, she told me that she had made it! It was originally a halter, but she made it into a sweetheart for me.

I tried on over 60 dresses before finding mine. I am utterly convinced that it's not all about weight. It's all about your body shape: boobies, waist, hips, height, proportions (emphasis on proportions), etc. My very first time shopping for a wedding dress, I saw a girl who was probably 300 lbs find an amazing dress! She seriously looked great. It was all about the cut and style of the dress working for her body. I also tried on dresses that looked better on me than the model! Trust me, I do not have a model body (I'm 5'3" and 135 lbs). But those dresses were obviously made in such a way that they better complimented my body than the model's body.

So ladies, you go ahead and loose weight if you are concerned about your health. But please don't make the mistake of thinking that you need to do it to look good in a wedding dress. Just like all each us, dresses come in a rainbow of shapes and styles. It's all about finding the right match for YOU. It's the same as how each girl here had to go through different partners before finding the one that was is best match for the unique mix that makes her the person that she is.

Now I am stepping down from my soap box!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
