Here is the dress I bought but I am still looking...

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with getting an A-lined dress altered into a trumpet/fit and flair style dress? Any input is appreciated : )

Do you mind if I ask why? I am considering going there, but I do not want to drive down to the States if it is not worth it....

Here is my dress that i ordered almost a couple months back, lately I have been having such doubts and I don't know why?? Especially when I watch say yes to the dress, I even started to cry the other night and I think my fiance thought something was wrong with me haha. Has anyone else had doubts after ordering?? I will be making it sweetheart neckline and losing 20 pounds lol but I am loooking for honest truthful opinions please!!!

hey peach - I, too, went to david's. I think it's fine if you're not expecting too much: the carpet was dirty, one of the mirrors was cracked, the hanger in the dressing room was broken, the room itself was TINY, they had horrible flourescent lights, etc etc.on the lacking aesthetics. it's the first place I went, and the woman who helped me was pretty good. she was also patient and allowed my mom and I a lot of time to try on the styles and decide - I never felt rushed. she didn't come in the room with me, and my mom and I were pretty much free to do whatever - we were almost alone in the back area of the store - EXCEPT for the sales managers, who kept walking over at every opportunity asking, "is this the dress?" it was so bad my consultant even apologized for them!

all in all, the experience was fairly similar to that I received at other boutiques. I liked the woman helping me, and lo and behold, a few months later I went back to purchase the very first dress I tried on there. although it doesn't have a lot of the detailing that makes dresses really lovely, it's simple and beach-y and perfect for budget-conscious me. the veil was also a steal, as were the shoes. just be aware that all their purchases are final sales, so you might want to take some time to decide.

oh, the first dress they ordered for me had makeup smeared on it (?!). I guess it's a possibility because they sell directly off the rack. but after they re-ordered it for me, the second was immaculate and they swore they had just pulled it out of its original packaging. again, it wasn't that big of a deal. if you don't have your expectations too high, I think you'll be just fine. but if you're after the champagne experience, just try to take it with a grain of salt. ; )

kristen - your dress is really lovely, and I'm not just saying that. I think it looks great on you, and your nerves are just part of the overall thing. if you can, try not to worry too much until it comes in. I think once you put it on again, you'll be completely reassured.

personally, I've had doubts about nearly everything (not the FI, but everything else ; ) - the other day I was reading snarky traveler reviews on tripadvisor re my resort and thinking, "what have I done?!" again, I think it's just part of the process to look and question and then do it all over again. but I really think you will remember why you chose the dress as soon as you try it on again.

also, I think you look great just as you are. the dress really highlights your beautiful figure. I think everything will work out a-ok for you! : )

Thanks for your kind words Kelly!  Like you said, hopefully when it comes in and I put it on I will love it.  If not, I will be buying a new dress lol.  I tried on soo many dresses and it is different then what I thought I would end up with and I think that is also why I am having doubts.  I did get frustrated while dress shopping trying to find a dress I "LOVED" and I just hope I didn't settle : (  Last night the same thing happened to me with the tripadvisor reviews, my fiance and I were reading recent ones and I almost had a break down because they were so bad!  After speaking to a bride earlier who just got married at the same hotel as me I feel much better.

Thanks again! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
