AfricanVenus, one thing you can do is to wear the veil during the ceremony and the birdcage veil at the reception. I like the DT idea and I had no intention of wearing a traditional veil except for my birdcage veil, but now I am thinking maybe I could switch to the birdcage at the reception. We are only getting married once so, why not. I would say regardless of what your parents are saying, go with whatever your heart desire, because they have experienced their day so now it is "YOUR" day you must do you. :)

I think they're stylish, classy, and still a veil. I'm looking at a tulle birdcage veil to go with the tulle of my dress. My sister says I look like I'm trapped in a mosquito net, and I'm inclined to agree, but it's different than the Russian netting you normally see. I'm also popping it off for the reception so it'll be just about the fascinator later on. And Mr. Tutera is right, as are most moms everywhere: when else do you get to have one? :-D

I'm going the flower too. I think the veil is too formal for the beach. I was thinking a big red flower because my man is Mexican so it would be a little nod to the latin thing :)

I am also going with the birdcage...but I am going with feathers, bling and a small bit of netting. You might want to try some on at stores..the real birdcage veils were uncomfortable b/c they were brushing against my eyelashes!

Jewel93, I was on the forum months ago, not even thinking about dress shopping and I saw this post! I was on vacation in Florida at the time and had a girlfriend call every bridal salon within 4 hours of home - and no one had it to try on. two phone calls later, I found a place in Tampa that had it and i tried it on and bought it the very next day. So a great big thank you!

Yeah, I live in CO. I went to about 15 stores or so & was finally just sick of it! lol  Some of the people working at the stores were just awful too. I went into one in Cherry Creek, can't think of the name at the moment, but they have all their dresses in back, and they just bring up ones they think you'll like. They were good at picking ones that would fit you, but none of them were my style! Each time I tried one on, the woman impatiently would ask me if this was it. I think I was there for 15 minutes and tried on maybe 4 dresses. She was so rude I was nearly in tears!

I sure hope other people have better experiences with dress shopping that I did!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
