Official OCTOBER 2013 BRIDES

Hey ladies

 

I couldn't seem to find a thread for all of us getting married in October 2013 ! So here it is

 

I'm getting married on the 2nd in Punta Cana. I currently live in Montreal and my FI is in Toronto. I sent my save the date at the end of september... and already 38 people are saying that they are coming "for sure". I'm getting pretty excited... but I'll wait for their "real" answers after I have send my formal invitations. I was thinking of sending them in April and give them until mid-June to RSVP....

 

Anyhow, I'm looking foward to share this experience with you all !!

Getting married in Riviera Maya at El Dorado Royale October 4, 2013!! So excited!! We're using destinationweddings.com and already have 24 people that have put down a deposit.  Looking forward to booking our flights soon.  Air Tran told me to contact them around Jan 1st when the flight schedule for Oct is released so we can get a group rate/discount.  Woop Woop!

 

I've been gathering some items for my OOT bags and can't wait until I've reached 150 posts so I can download attachments and start designing stuff!!

Yay ! Congrats ! Would you mind sharing what you got for your OOT bags ? Are you doing favors as well ? 150 posts is going to come fast for you !

Here's what I have so far:

 

Clear Plastic Tumblers (dollar tree)

Drink Packets - powerade or something(big lots)

Generic pepto bismol (big lots)

Generic tums and ibuprofen in packets (big lots)

Eye Masks (target dollar bin)

Sewing kits (dollar tree)

Chap Sticks (dollar tree)

Lanyards with ID holders (ebay)

Nail files (dollar tree)

 

Not planning on doing favors since these will serve as a thank you in my opinion. Plus I feel like the only favors I enjoyed from weddings I've been to were edible! haha, the coasters, keychains, etc. have seemed pretty useless.  I am also debating bottle openers for the bags too.  Are you doing favors? Also, I plan on doing canvas bags or some sort of beach bag and have ordered some samples to see quality, but I want to hold out for summer where I might find some in stores.  Have you bought bags or stuff to put in them yet?

*I* still haven't decide if am doing OOT bags and/or favors. To be honest, my planning is not going that well ! I feel like I'm the only one in the world who cares about this wedding and it's pissing me off lol so I just come on this forum every day and read a lot but nothing concrete is done on my side ! Being now 9 months away, I may have to stop my pity party soon and just do everything on my own and stop expecting that my sister (MOH) mother and FI will help..

 

Also, I have no idea how many people will actually come so I don't want to start buying stuff and ending up having too much or not enough etc...

 

For the favors, I also find that the edible ones are the one I appreciate the most, everything else is cluttering the house and mostly useless ! I was thinking maybe giving something from the DR since people usually bring back 'souvenirs' from their trips.. maybe rum, coffee, vanilla ?!

great idea!!! or tequila if you're going to Mexico! I haven't been asking anyone to help simply because I want them to be surprised that I'm doing it on my own, plus there shouldn't be a ton that you'll have to do, I feel like we're the lucky ones who don't have to worry about the little details like napkins and silverware and chair covers, etc. etc. etc.

 

You're not the only one who has the feeling like no one else cares, there's whole thread about mom's and rants, haha!! The fiance will likely be there when you ask him, mine is out of the loop and thinks I'm a wacko for buying a thousand things from the dollar store. lol! I wouldn't expect him to come up with any ideas on his own, mine certainly hasn't.  this is my thing and i only ask him for opinions if i really need them.

 

What resort are you staying at in Punta cana?

Yeah I should start adopting your attitude ! It's true that they would be very surprised if I do everything on my own! I just need to stop being indecisive.. it's killing me Made me laugh when you mentioned napkins and silverware ha ha  I must be a freak because I was thinking of bringing my own napkins lol !

 

And for the mom thing, just yesterday I sent her an email with a link to check out some starfish bottle opener...... asking her what she thought of them.. her answer ?? :: thanks but I don't need anything.

 

LOL you can see that the wedding is nowhere in her head ! Anyhow, like you said it's OUR thing, so I'll just do my best and try to have fun doing it

 

The resort... is supposed to be Iberostar Bavaro (you see the hesitation here haha, I actually "booked" my wedding at 2 resorts and still hasn't canceled the 2nd one just in case I change my mind again !! It's making me sick to make my guests pay 1300$ + ...but whatever, as long as my FI and I are there the wedding is going to happen !

haha, we are all in the same boat! lol literally about your napkin comment, I really hope your resort would supply napkins : ) people won't be able to remember what color they were anyways! I was looking at some bottle openers last night too! I was thinking of a really cool mexican one or the flip flop one that all over the favor sites.  I can't really find any lots of the mexican ones though.  Corona has these really cool bottles with an opener at the top but they're a fortune and once again I can't find any lots or sets of them for cheap so I'll hold off. 

 

I asked my fiance about the bottle opener and if it was cheesy and his response: uhhhh I don't know.  lol!! that really makes me wanna hold off, if he doesn't think they're cool, then most likely other people won't, i guess?

 

My mom saw a receipt on my coffee table for 15 sewing kits and she cracked up and keeps pestering me why in the world i would have a need for so many sewing kits, but i refuse to tell her about my OOT bags. I just want everyone to be like "omg we had no idea, what a thoughtful surprise" : )

 

I have been off all week and everyday trying to post at least 20 to make it to 150 and can't believe I'm almost there already!!! Woo hoo!!! Then the pressure will be on to start producing some stuff, scarrryyy!!!

 

I don't really have a theme, we had some invitations drafted up at a place by our house and I just knew I liked starfish so they're showing up there, and going to stamp something on my OOT bags, but haven't decided what just yet or what type of bag so we'll see.  Colors...well we only have one bridesmaid dress in the wedding party (just my sister as my MOH to keep it small) and her dress is persimmon from david's bridal.  Loving the orangy guava persimmon colors.  How about you?

I have one bridesmaid dress to buy too (my sister MOH) ... and she look AWFUL in coral lol so I'm gonna go with pink either flashy or pale we'll see ! We're going to drive to the nearest david's bridal in a couple of weeks and look at all the colors on her skin, after her dress is bought I'm going to know my wedding colors ! I gave FI the choice of a gray or sand suit, and he said gray. So I'm adding silver as a color as well ! I really liked the silver and coral together but oh well. Pink and silver is very pretty too As for theme, we don't have one. I really like starfish too, and palm trees. I just want the wedding to have a nice - elegant feeling. Nothing too tacky or cheesy

 

As for the napkins - you are so right ! Nobody will remember the color of those lol and that's true for so many other things I was stressing about

If I understand well, you have 24 people who already have put a deposit down, and you didn't even send the invitation yet ?! WOW that's so nice !!!
