HI everyone I am newly engaged and starting to plan a destination wedding for mexico. Sometime in 2014.. Thats all i have so far! lol Does anyone have suggestions on resorts that are more price friendly for the guests? I was quoted at some resorts around 500$ for a 3 night stay without airfare! I know most of my family and friends book package vacations flight and hotel for around 700$ for a week, so to pay that much for a 3 night stay without airfare is too much.. Any suggestions? Also, is there a cheaper month to pick for a destination wedding? I was thinking between  feb 2014 - May 2014. not sure which month would be cheaper though? Also, I was looking into one of the REAL resorts. Gran Porto real, Gran caribe or the Royal. Also maybe the now jade resort. Hopefully some of you ladies can help!! I NEED IT! hope to hear back soon!

I think your right to think that May is cheaper. i know around spring break time its a bit more expensive down there. I think that october ish is a cheaper time as well, but keep in mind that time of year can come with hurricanes. My guests paid around 1500 pp at Dreams Tulum, which includes airfare, All inclusive resort, and transfers to and from the resort, for 7 days, and 1200 or less for 5 days. hope that helps:) Have you been in touch with a TA?

Hi Emma,

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!!

The Mayan Riviera offers a plethora of amazing resorts and locations for weddings. Check out this article: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/a/del-sol-photography-slideshows-riviera-maya

As far as best time of year to travel, January - March are probably the best months with incredible weather. April and May are considered High Season for weddings so finding availability and the options you like might be a bit more complicated.

Good luck and let me know if we can be of further assistance.

Congrats! I know it's totally overwhelming. Keep in mind hurricane season, which runs from June - October. We choose May, because April can be really heavy with spring breakers, and we didn't really want that vibe. We also read that May is one of the cheaper months. I HIGHLY recommend using a travel agent. We weren't going to originally, but now are so glad we are because we are getting better rates and it's must less stress. Everything is just booked through her. It was important to us that the resort was all-inclusive and adult-only, and that's one of the reasons we chose El Dorado Royale. To give an idea, it's about $2500 for 6 nights. This is the total cost for two people for air, hotel, and transport. Since it's AI, there will be no additional costs. If you need any more information feel free to message me. I just got engaged October 5th, and we already were able to pick a date and book our resort. Good luck, reach out if you need anything!

Thanks ladies for your suggestions! Tulumbride2013, I am currently working with a wedding planner and she is also a TA. She is the one getting me the quotes on the room rates for whichever resort I am asking her to find out about for me. She doesnt have airfare and hotel packages since ill be getting married in 2014 she doesnt have any prices for airfare. Who are you using as a TA? and are you communicating directly with the resort to plan your wedding  or you have a planner as well?  I also think well being having our wedding in May. Just not sure of the date yet lol.

to LKocelko, The resort you chose El Dorado Royale is beautiful!!!! I was looking into it but the prices my guests would end up paying i know would be too much so we decided not to go with that one. I am now looking at Ocean Coral and Turquesa, has anyone heard anything on it?

Hmmm.. how about Barcelo Maya Palace?  That might be a little cheaper!  $500 sounds like a lot for 3 nights but when you factor in all that you're getting it's really not bad.  Maybe you could work with your travel agent to chip in like $50 per guest to help bring their cost down?  Also, late August/early September is HOT but the pricing may definitely work out better and it's before hurricane season really kicks into full gear.

Good luck!!

Sorry for the late response! I haven't been up here. I have a family friend who is ourTA. I would be happy to pass her info along.! She is awesome. She got all the guests booked and also worked some with the resort in terms of groups promotions, which is awesome. Then the resort coordinator answers all of my wedding requests and things of that nature. You can get AirPrice estimates prob by just seeing what the price is like this year, and just comparing. Let me know if I can pass along my ta'sinfo. She is amazing. I lov using the ta because guests just have to put down a small deposit and the total amount of the trip isn't due until 90 days before we leave, works out perfect for those who are waiting on their tax return!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
