HI everyone I am newly engaged and starting to plan a destination wedding for mexico. Sometime in 2014.. Thats all i have so far! lol Does anyone have suggestions on resorts that are more price friendly for the guests? I was quoted at some resorts around 500$ for a 3 night stay without airfare! I know most of my family and friends book package vacations flight and hotel for around 700$ for a week, so to pay that much for a 3 night stay without airfare is too much.. Any suggestions? Also, is there a cheaper month to pick for a destination wedding? I was thinking between  feb 2014 - May 2014. not sure which month would be cheaper though? Also, I was looking into one of the REAL resorts. Gran Porto real, Gran caribe or the Royal. Also maybe the now jade resort. Hopefully some of you ladies can help!! I NEED IT! hope to hear back soon!

Hey there, welcome to BDW and congrats on your engagement.  For the months and location that youâ€re considering, May would be the best month to have a DW since it typically is considered the start of off-peak season. If youâ€re considering March or April, youâ€ll have to keep spring break and Easter in mind as hotel and airfare prices will be escalated.  For me, my guest are paying anywhere between $450-$700 for round-trip airfare dependent on where theyâ€re flying from. If youâ€re set on staying at a resort, than keeping your guests trip cost under $700 may be challenge since most resorts in the Riviera Maya are All-Inclusive and thus the nightly rates will be more than some of the in-town hotel options.   I will be a Now Jade Bride in 2013 so if you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

Hi EmmA1025,

I'm having my wedding in November 2013 in Mayan Riviera at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum. The quote that I received from my TA is around $1103/pp (incl. tax) all inclusive from Toronto, Canada. She also quoted Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya for me at around $100 more than the Gran Bahia.

However, I believe she mentioned that February-April is still high season for travelling down south, hence why some of the quotes you're getting are slightly higher. I would try end of April or beginning of May 2014. However, come May, it's etching near hurricane season. But those resorts I listed are pretty nice, and I had friends who have stayed at both. So maybe you can start there.

Congratulations on the engagement and happy planning! I got engaged 2 months ago, and finding this website is probably the best thing that's happened to me for planning. Cheers!

Hello EmmA1025,

As wedding planner here in the Riviera Maya, I can advice you that Feb to May is in the high season, if you do not mind the heat, you can choose a month in the summer, make sure you do not choose it around the same time as summer break, the is too much crowd. Ask your TA to quote you on resort plus airfare.  Also ask her to send you quote on Playacar Palace and Hacienda Tres Rios, they have good deals usually.

Nov is well in the low season and end of hurricane season, the weather is perfect and you sure get great deals.

Feel free to ask me anything and I will be happy to help.

Happy Planning!

Joyce

Thanks joyce! So May is more of an expensive month? I deff do not want a summer month because it will be too hot Is november a cheaper month to check? Is there a lot of rain in november? I am no longer working with a TA so am searching for a new one! If you are available I would love to talk more about the planning with you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
