Newbie - Grand Riviera/Sunset Princess vs. GBP

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, this is my first official post as a "Mrs-to-be"!! We had started talking about (and kinda planning, lol!) a DW a few months ago, but Jay actually proposed on Sunday night at my mom and step-dad's place!woot.gif

Now that we are officially engaged, we can really start to get into the planning. We have talked about a few resorts and were leaning towards the Gran Bahia Principe, but after doing a little more research we are now thinking one of the Princess hotels. I'm wondering if anyone has been married at the Princess and/or if anyone has been to both of these resorts that they could provide some input to help us decide. We are meeting with a travel agent either this Sat or next, but I thought I would ask here first since this site and you ladies have been a wealth of info for us so far!

Congratulations "Mrs-to-be" Igerry!! Planning a wedding is a very exciting time! I have been to both resorts and they are both great choices. The Gran Bahia Principe is a very large resort so lots of restaurants and bars for your to choose from (there are 3 different sections!). The Grand Sunset/Riviera Princess is also a large hotel, and it is newer so the rooms and amenities are more updated vs the Gran Bahia. If you end up booking the Grand Sunset/Riviera Princess, see if you are able to book/get an upgrade to the Laguana Villas (sooooo nice) which offers a private pool section, or even the Platinum suites, which is closer to the beach and there's a buffet restaurant right down stairs so not too far of a walk!

Good luck and we wish you all the best!

I stayed at the Princess hotel before.  The resort is really nice and big.  Lots of food options and there's nightly entertainment.  You don't have to get out of the resort.  I love the pools.  There's always a quiet spot of you want the privacy in the pool and there's a pool entertainment spot.  You wouldn't feel cramped on the pool at the all.  Beach is nice too.  I don't really have any complaints there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
