Guest List: Invited versus Actually Attended- Calling all ladies whose wedding

Invited: 52 people in Feb

RSVP'd: 29 people in April

Actually came: 26 people in Dec

We had one guest bring a friend/+1 and it was only b/c my cousin was traveling from half way around the world. Otherwise we didn't have or want any strangers at our wedding, just a personal choice. We had one couple pay the deposit, then drop out months before and one couple break up so the ex GF didn't come. We had no problem pairing up the 6 singles either to keep the costs down for them(double occ was cheaper). And like some other girls have said, you will prob be surprised who comes and who doesn't. Sometimes your "sure bets" bail and more "maybes" show up!! Lol!

Our wedding is next week so our numbers are pretty final.

May 2012 we sent out invitations to 91 people.
Sept 2012 when our deadline for our travel agent was we had 63 people booked which included 2 extra people we didn't originally invite (my parent's friends asked to bring their son and his FI)

April 2013 our number now stands at 61, my great aunt and uncle were forced to cancel due to health reasons (MAKE SURE that any older members of your family have health cancellation insurance!)

And, everyone we thought would come did, and the invites we sent to "be nice" didn't book. We didn't really have any surprises. We knew that if we gave people enough time (more than a year) people would have lots of time to book off work and save up.

Love this post.  My guest list is fluxuating between 89 - 93 and I really do not know how many people to expect.  TA thinks we should hold 20 rooms, and it's freaking me out!  (Cuz I'm putting the initial deposits down to hold the rooms)

This was a great thread! I know we have debated how many to invite vs how many will actually show. As of right now our guest list is 80 but we only want 50 max to attend. We are allowing all the single people to have a +1, as we have some friends from university that won't know necessarily know everyone else invited and wanted to make them feel comfortable.

This post is very encouraging! I was stressing out about how many people to invite because I was worried about how many would show up. I guess I will just invite everyone and hope the numbers go the same way for me :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
