How much time do I need for a dress?

Recommended Posts

Here is my problem. I have to go to Chicago for work...I thought at the end of Oct for about 3 weeks. Now I find out I am going on Wednesday...yes, less than a week notice...and I will be there for probably 6 weeks at best.

I had an appointment at David's Bridal which I now have to cancel. smile27.gif By the time I am back home and able to shop (and I have to assume I won't find "the" dress the first day) it could be December before I am ready to buy a dress. Is this cutting it too close for a March 26 wedding?

You could always order the dress in Chicago and have it altered at home. Some shops include alterations in the price, so you may even get a lower price. David's may even be able to have the dress shipped to a different store - that way you can shop and still have the dress sent home.

Either way, I would definitely shop before December. You may find something off the rack, in which case, no problem... but if you have to order, you'll be stressing in Dec. Good luck!

Unfortunately, I don't have time before I leave. I was given less than a week notice I am going. Fun, huh?

I will try to make an appointment at a David's Bridal in chicago. I will have to wait until I get there to get the lay of the land. As far as I know I will be staying downtown. Any Chicago brides recommend any bridal shops other than David's?

I at least need to get an idea of what styles I want. I hadn't thought about David's shipping it to my local store, but they probably would do that. Cross your fingers that I find something in stock and not on backorder. smile29.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
