What to do with the ladies while the guys are fishing??

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm counting down the days until our May 2013 wedding at the Barcelo Maya. We've been to the resort once before and can't wait to return with all our friends and family.

My fiance would really like to go deep sea fishing with the guys one day before the wedding. I was thinking that this would be a good opportunity for me to do something nice with my mom, his mom, his sister and some of my girlfriends. The obvious choice is to do a "spa" day, but neither my mom or his mom are really into whole spa thing. I don't think they would want to do anything too crazy or adventurous (like zip-lining), either. I know they'd definitely like to see some of the ruins, but I'm sure some of the guys would like to do that too, so I don't want to go without them.

I was racking my brains to think of something that everyone would enjoy, but I'm having a bit of trouble... So, I was hoping some of you may have some ideas! Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance! Don't know what I'd do without this board : )

Hanging out by the pool does sound fabulous, but for us when the guys go fishing (which my fiancee wants to pay for all of the guys to do), I am planning to ask the ladies if they want to travel into downtown Puerto Vallarta to go shopping and then I will buy them all lunch.

Our resort is a short bus or cab ride to downtown, and a lot of the guests have not been to Mexico before, so I thought it's a great opportunity for us ladies to take all the time we want to wander the markets and not have the men complaining that we're taking too long!

You could always go to Merida or Chichen Itza.  Or, if you're into the idea, but those are too far, I visited the archeological site at Tulum last weekend and it was very nice, but much closer-- about 45 min. from Playa del Carmen. Afterwards, there are some really cool open-air restaurants on the beach-side road running through the hotelera zone (Boca Paila Road). You could do a nice lunch afterwards.

  • 2 months later...

here are some very diverse options.......zip-lining at Xplor Park, ........., swim with dolphins at the interactive Aquarium, Cancun ........a lunch at the El Embarcadero rotating scenic tower, complete with shops + theater .....or book a girls' photo shoot session with one of the professional photographer studios here.......take some boudoir shots for your "glam portfolio"........you're all looking gorgeous anyway......tanned n happy :) would make for some great memories, captured happily ever after in timeless photos :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
