These pictures are so beautiful!  Now that the holidays are over, I'm really starting the planning process!  I'd love to hear from you Playa Del Carmen ladies who are currently planning as well! Please tell me about the vendors you are using!

Does anyone have an advice on DJ's? I think we want a DJ and I have seen pictures with DJs that have brought props and things which is something that I would love-does anyone know of any good ones? I don't know if I should go with the one the resort, or look into other vendors. Also, I want to put in my welcome bags some of those Serape blankets I think, does anyone know if there is a place to get them cheap in Playa del Carmen?? I don't really want to have to bring them all down with me, and is there a local flower market that I could possibly get flowers for the reception there and bring them into the resort?

Me personally, our decision on a DJ will depend on the amount of people we end up with.  If its in the low 30s, we will use an ipod and sound system.  Over 35, we will hire a DJ.  If the crowd is low 30s then that means its mostly older family members and not so many friends.

AnaSteele58- We ended up going with Ivan from DJ Doreemixx- We've heard great things about him! Our crowd will be in the age group of late 20's and then some older family members so we def. wanted a DJ for lots of dancing. I think depending on the amount of people we have coming, we may go another hour on the reception- 3 hrs seems so short, but if we have a lot of people we won't be able to afford it!

We booked Ivan from DJ Doreemixx as well! We are also extending our reception by an hour!  My wedding is currently scheduled for 4 pm...I'd like possibly reschedule it for 5..My WC did say it might possibly be slightly dark. Any input?  I'd like for guests to be able to go to the beach/pool during the day and then have cocktail hour, followed by a 4 hr reception.

Also, I'd love to hear if you ladies booked any of your vendors. I'd like to book our photographer soon. Our budget is less than $2,000 for photos.  Have you heard any imput on FUNEVER? I'm trying to avoid as many vendor fees as possible.

Please keep me posted on your planning :)

NicJ- my photographer friend who has done a couple weddings in the area said that it does get dark really quick and was worried when I said mine was at 4 about running out of light for pictures- so you might not want to start it later... I would talk to photographers from the area on what they think! As for a photographer- I have a friend of my photographer friend who is doing it ultra cheap- but only because she is doing a little bit of it and my friend (who is in the wedding) is doing some of it too and they have wanted to co-shoot for a while. My friend is amazing- I'm not just saying that because I'm bias- they are really good- I don't know what her prices are exactly, but I would suggest checking her page out! She does a lot of destination weddings.  The facebook page is here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Brittany-Majka-Photography/142502132433215

Her actual website is here : www.bam-fam.com

I looked at some of the pics from the Royal's photographer and didn't like them or else I was just going to go with them too!

Your wedding is only a couple weeks before mine! Keep me updated as well!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
