Hello to all the brides out there!

Thank you for taking the time to read, and in advance thank you for your opinions...

I recently got engaged to the love of my life, and we are now looking to get married next year. We recently started considering a Destination Wedding as an option because of all the possibilities. We live in FL and what better place to get married on the beach than FL, right? Well start adding all the cost and that will make you want to run away from FL. Anyway, now that we are mostly settled on a Destination Wedding we're looking to narrow down our options. We are seriously thinking about Cancun as that is where we were to be getting engaged (long story to get into here), but the resort we had fallen in love with is ADULTS ONLY. I have a little niece that will be the only member of the wedding party ~my flower girl~ I started considering The Beloved Hotel in Playa Mujeres as it is next door to the hotel we were going to choose. I haven't found much information on it, but while we started to consider that option I also started thinking... what other place will be a good destination?

Please feel free to comment on other destinations outside of Cancun, as well as what Cancun resorts you recommend that will be suitable for a group with one kid, but mostly adults.

Hi,

We just recently booked our wedding The Beloved Hotel for 10/19/13.  I chose them off of the appearance and the trip advisor reviews. (that's my travel bible lol)  I also liked the fact that the hotel is small and offers a very intimate environment.  We are having several children at our wedding including our 2 year old son.

We are working with Donna from Destinatonweddings.com (she is wonderful) she connected us with the hotel's wedding coordinator Alejandro.   He has been just as great.  He answers all of my questions fully and very quickly.    They offer  a basic package but the options to are endless.

So far we have chosen the 2 story castistas for our room.

We were very torn trying to decided if we should go with the buffet style dinner on the beach or the sit down dinner on the terrace which overlooks the beach.  Both menu's looked amazing.  And once you see the decor possibilities for the buffet dinner you will never look at a buffet the same.....very far from the local Old Country Buffet lol.  We decided to go with the sit down dinner just because it offered one of our favorite dishes.

Right now  I am choosing my chairs, table linen, center pieces.

So far I cannot say anything negative about the hotel or the planner.

Please feel free to ask me any questions.

Congrats and good luck!

Welcome and congratulations! You should definitely have your wedding in Mexico if that is your dream (it was for my fiance and I).  But I would warn you not to do it if your goal is simply to save money.  My fiance and I have found everything to be just as expensive and for some items even more expensive than home, and we live in Manhattan.  As a point of reference, our total budget for the wedding weekend is now three times what my family paid for my brother's wedding at our country club on Chicago's North Shore (where I grew up).  And that was a nice wedding.  Granted, we are doing it a la carte in Tulum, so it may be that you can save money by doing it at a resort closer to Cancun -- I'm not sure.  But think about factors like, for instance, you will most likely want to throw a welcome gathering before the wedding and a day-after brunch, but instead of these events being for the wedding party and a few out of town guests, as they would be at home, they are for your entire guest list (because everyone is from out of town).  Whereas my parents threw my brother a lovely rehearsal dinner and Sunday brunch at our home for not a ton of money (just whatever they spent on food and servers), we don't have that option, so we are now spending 6 digits just on a rehearsal dinner for the wedding party, a simple cocktail party for the rest of our guests, and brunch.  It really took me by surprise.  Anyway, we don't mind because this is really what we want and we think our wedding will be amazing -- nothing like New York or Chicago -- but in your case I would seriously price compare (taking into account ALL expenses associated with a destination wedding) before you decide against doing it in FL.

Just a thought!

Congrats on your engagement! I'm planning my wedding in Punta Cana, but we ARE saving a TON of money. (even after resort/flight costs) We've already calculated most of our expenses and we'll end up paying a third of what we would have back home. A lot of it depends on where you stay. Don't be afraid to look at venue that are off-resort as well. We are having both our wedding ceremony and reception and an AWESOME place about 30 minutes away from the resort. It will be way more private than having dozens of bikini-clad people staring at us, it's going to give us more flexibility and peace of mind (only 1 ceremony per day!) and we're going to save even more money. Keep your options open and just keep researching! You might decide you want to change locations down the road.. who knows! We originally planned on Hawaii, but changed to Punta Cana after finding out about our awesome venue.

Best of luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
