Ok guys I am going to chirp in here for a second. I know some of you want to skimp in this area and I feel it is a huge mistake! You may spend 1000-5000 on a dress, $800-2000 on flowers, couple hundred on makeup and hair for yourself, food another $50 a plate or better and cake 10.00 a person but you want to go cheap in this area. When your wedding day is over and you get home from your vacation what is it that you use for many, many years to remember your wonderful and beautiful day with? It is you're wedding pictures. Your better off cutting your budget on other things and do this right!

Hi! Who did you hire as your photographer? I am still considering using the photographer that is included in our package however, I am still looking at other photographers.

Thanks

I couldn't agree more mlw02, splurge on your photography! If you are looking to spend a few hundred, please be aware that the quality will be nothing in comparison to splurging on a talented photographer. But if the pictures really do not mean much to you, then by all means I understand why you wouldn't want to spend a few thousand. Good luck everyone! I will be sure post pictures that my photographer takes after my wedding, I think he is going to be so amazing :)

Actually more money doesn't necessarily equate with better quality. Just because I didn't "splurge" on photography did not mean that I got lower quality photos. Almost two years later we still love our photos and can't wait to go back and use the same photographer for an anniversary shoot. I just don't believe that you have to pay what everyone pays because that's the standard. Sometimes the photographers take advantage of the fact that brides from abroad are willing to overpay because that's the "norm". Of course if you pay a lot you'd better get your money's worth so the photos had better be incredible. But I believe in supporting the "little guy" so to speak who has just as great an eye but isn't overcharging for his art because he doesn't need to. But of course, if you believe you need to splurge then go ahead. But we shouldn't think that a person who doesn't splurge doesn't value good photography. That's highly presumptuous. At the end of the day it's really an individual decision according to everyone's budget and philosophy. And there will always be people who splurge and people who don't.

I just came across Dennis Berti (www.DenisBerti.com).. his photography is AMAZING and not as expensive as Alec & T.  I'm sorry, there is no way in the world I can justify paying $5000+ for a photog who's pictures look like they're fake cause they edit too much.  I understand this will only happen once but I still need to be able to budget here and there.

I received a quote for $3500 for 6 hours with Dennis and Chio, his photographer girlfriend, and booked them for our wedding.  Their style is unique and they don't do posed pictures.  They believe in capturing real/raw moments throughout your special day - I love it!

This is just my opinion, but hopefully this helps some brides out there!

I wish I had seen this earlier...I wanted Bradley Fraser to do our wedding but he was booked. His style is photo journalistic also and I love that. We ended up hiring Gilda, who's been sweet as pie so far. I'm going to ask her not to do posed pics- her sample of raw moments looked great, so hopefully it will be ok. And she's very reasonably priced! My WC actually used her in her wedding!

I'd love to see some pictures or samples from the Dreams' wedding package photographers. My fiance and I are getting married in July 2014. We are trying to keep costs down, so I would like to use the Dreams' photographers as well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
