Gran Porto Real, Playa del Carmen Brides?!

Recommended Posts

Hi, everyone!  Well, we've made the important decision to host our wedding at the Gran Porto Real in Playa on April 13, 2013.  We're staying at The Royal, but the times/locations that we wanted to host the ceremony and reception were unavailable so we decided to move it next door.  This option has actually worked out quite nicely as it gives our budget concious guests another option without having to pay for a day pass or other fees for the wedding day.  I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience?  I have so many questions... and am tired of paging through the 900+ pages on The Royal forums to find a post on the Gran once every couple pages.  ;)  Is there another forum that I'm missing to help provide some info?  We're hosting the ceremony at 6p at the Gazebo, and the cocktail and private reception on the beach immediately following the reception.  I have so many questions (menus, decor, vendors, which beach is best, etc, etc.) and am wondering if there is anyone out there struggling with the same?  Would love to get together to share ideas/info!  As of now we have 35ish guests and think we'll end up somewhere between 50-60 total.  Most guests as of right now will be staying at The Royal.  Help!

Where did you have the ceremony and reception?  How many guests? Did you use a local photographer?  I look forward to hearing more about how everything went for you!

My wedding was beyond perfect. Of course there were hiccups along the way, but none of that mattered in the end :) I was beyond happy with the Royal. They are really there for you, to make sure you are happy, and want to make your day special. I had my ceremony at Pelicanos Beach which is a little seperated from the rest of the "busy" part of the beach. I actually didn't have my reception at the Royal, I moved it to a private location about 4 blocks away at a restaurant called Wicky's. It was cheaper for us, and I had A LOT more control. I'm happy to elaborate more about that if you want. Our group including us was a total of 15. I did use a local photographer Juan Navarro, and he was amazing! I researched a lot and he had some of the best prices and came with great recommendations from other brides.

I am more than happy to share any and all info I can, I know how nerve wracking it can be to plan from so far away.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
