I am very untraditional, but that's one tradition I will keep! He will not see my dress until I'm walking down the aisle! wink.gif Well that & the tradition of not sleeping together the night before!

Been there! lol. We are conflicted souls, us women. I didn't want him to really assist with the DIY stuff, just b/c i thought I could do it better. But one Sunday, I was sitting on the floor cutting and tying over 100 ribbons and he came back from a 4 hour relaxing bike ride along the beach and bay...I flipped b/c while he enjoying the sun on his shoulders and the wind at his back, i was crouched over like the hunch-back of notre dame tying stupid ribbons to freaking fans and survival kits. All I wanted was for him to "ask". But he was like, "i thought you said you like this stuff and when i did ask, you didn't want help". Which he was oh so right. haha.

They actually have a book about it, "Survival guide for Grooms". Hilarious and so true. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Everything-Groom-Book-Survival-Guide-Men-Shelly-Hagen-Paperba-/160972002882#vi-content

He has been a gem though, anything I throw his way, he catches with enthusiasm. He just needs to be asked...it's a man thing :)

Hi girls! My bachelorette party is this weekend! Yayy!!!! I was tempted to give my girls their gifts when I see them but I think I will wait til MX. In the meantime I'm dying to share what I got for them so I decide to show you girls! :) http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/86020/my-bridesmaids-and-flower-girl-gifts-lots-of-pictures-some-diy-things#post_1898773 Also, I finished up my bouquets, corsages, and boutineers! Wondering how many of your FI's are super involved in the planning? Mine is like non-existent. Lol! He asked me a few times while I was cutting programs, tags, etc if I needed help & I told him no, which I meant bc I don't trust his cutting (I just don't think he'd make the lines as straight as me and stuff! Lol). But now that we are like 50 days out I thought maybe he'd ask me a question or ask something about the wedding--but nothing! So we talked when I got home from work bc it's been bothering me all day. He just said that he knows that everything is gonna be taken care of bc he knows I'll handle it. He knows that our final planning form is due to our resort any day now, so just thought maybe he'd ask something about that since we are so close, idk! He said he's super excited & ready for our day though.... I tell myself that this is normal... I sure hope it is!
Yes very normal! I am a little different in personaility I guess because I ask his opinion on everything. So I mean i throw questions at him constantly "Do you like these shoes? "Do you like this bracelet?" "Should we even bother with a planned excursion?"  He is involved because I sort of make him involved, but I know he doesnt mind. We just work together and talk a lot because his job has caused us to not live around any family for the last 9 years...so he knows I need his help hah. I basicaly find the choices, then have him pick. He even constructed my brooch bouquet base for me out in our garage hah. However when it came to getting our guests all set with travel and accomodations, planning my colors, picking out reception decor, he had nothing to do with that type of stuff. I joke when he shows up itll be like he is a guest too.  But the only things he is REALLY involved in (meaning wants to be) is the food selection at the reception, the music, a few planned excursions for him to fish and drink with his buddies and what he and the groomsmen are wearing. Other than that I just get a lot of Yeps, Sounds good, Do it! And I am fine with that! :)

I think it's totally normal. My FI is very involved in the sense that I run everything by him but this is hit as much to involve him as it is to share with someone what I'm doing! I'm planning pretty much solo bc my mom and my girls don't live here. Once i started getting more and more things for the wedding I decided I didn't want my mom or my girls to see things bc I want it to be a surprise for them. This makes FI pretty much my only person to help. That's one reason I love sharing things with you girls. Anyway, I got a little off topic, but my FI is a lot like your girls' FI's and I think it's totally normal. Like you said- we don't trust them with DIY stuff lol! And like one of said, they trust us! Haha. I know every time I do share something with him he's like "I totally trust you" and "everything you do always turns out great! You're talented, etc" so I know he cares, he just isn't nearly as involved in the details as me, but that's fine. I am getting SUPER excited as well!!!! I can't believe I am only 2 months out! Eeek!!!!!!!

The plan was not for him to see the dress, I literally just received it yesterday.  Rather there is an issue to where it does not zip up past the bottom band, so I needed his help.  No one else I could have asked.  It needs to be altered and the zipper fixed, so he won't see the final product until day of, but I figure since we will be legally married when we are in Mexico...it's a moot point.

I really wanted to keep it a secret.  Hard when you are to new to an area and your friends are not around to help with things like this.  Have to rely on Fi.

Hi Ladies...

I gave it a shot at Publisher and my table numbers came out cute!  I'm over the fear!  (I got these little frames at Michaels)

My maracas (www.amols.com) came in yesterday (assorted colors) and I decided to use this cute stamp for the escort card (stamp from www.uncommongoods.com)

Last project of the day.. I am finally working on the fans/hankies for the ceremony.  Ladies will get the fans (www.beau-coup.com) and gents will get the hankies.  If they are a couple, they will be wrapped together like in the pic.  If not, the individual item will be in their bag with the little tag "bring to the ceremony".

Holy bridesmaid gifts!!! Soooo.... I'm just going to throw this out there, but if one of your bridesmaids should (God forbid) miss their flight or fall ill, I'll gladly step in as "sub-bridesmaid" if it means receiving that colossal gift bag. Just sayin'.... ;)

My bridesmaids are getting: silk floral robes, chunky seafoam green necklaces for the wedding day (etsy), gold bangles (Forever21) for the wedding day, sunglasses and a tote. I have 8 of them, so I tried to get a lot of stuff that they could use again, without spending over a grand.

Did you get your Armani sunglasses on Groupon? I saw them on there and thought of that too...i freaking LOVE that site.

44 days until departure...WOOO-FREAKING--HOO!!!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
