I feel like I want there to be a few simple decor items..... Ideas?!? I'm thinking maybe just flower petals, candles of some kind, and maybe pictures of my FI and I through the years or something..? Hmmmm... Anyone else bringing small decorations for these events or similar events?

I agree with everyone else, I dont think I would stress too much about these meetings.  Our hotel wont even allow decorations at the rehearsal unless I reserve a private ballroom with a paid menu. (Ugh so annoying they want me to pay for all inclusive food every where I turn!)  My mom and bridesmaids are throwing me a bridal shower/girls day and I think they are bringing decorations but they will be decorating my room balcony or if we get down there and find a nice place outside with tables and chairs...but other than that, just bringing stuff for the reception.

Im like you ladies though, there are days I think Man Im pretty much done! Then all of a sudden I am like I havent got my dress altered, i have no jewelry, i forgot this, i forgot that. Today is one of those list making/checking days!!

Our wedding is on Saturday.  We have a tequila tasting on Thursday, a cocktail party at the beach after the rehearsal on Friday (asking guests to meet us after their have dinner) and brunch on Sunday.  I didn't even think of decorations for these events.  I think I will leave it as that to keep it simple...   I might bring some personalized shot glasses for the tequila tasting but that's it.

Actually, I don't think I've been to a wedding where the rehearsal dinner is really decorated too much. Haha..Megan your guests are in for a treat! Such a thoughtful, hard-working bride :) There will be tables and chairs set up on the beach, but maybe I'll see what they can add as far as splashes of color go. That or I'll just feed everyone a ton of booze so they forget about the details.. KIdding!!! No... no I'm not kidding.

Speaking of decorations, I got two huge hard-shell suitcases from TJMaxx and fit ALL of my centerpieces and OOT bags in one and have another one ready to go for the other stuff. They are, by far, the most hideous suit-cases I have ever laid eyes on. One is covered in PeaCock pattern and the other is a bright purple...probably geared toward a pubescent teenage girl. But hey...they work. So WOO-HOO!!!

OMG...I"m so freaking excited. :) :) :)

Laughing so hard at your description of these suitcases.. lol

I can't believe I just found this thread! I am getting married on June 1st! I THINK that I have most of the main things finished, but I still have a few items left on the to do list. Here is what is finished so far:

-I have had my 2nd dress alteration and will pick it up in a couple weeks

-Fiance's suit is purchased, but not altered (khaki linen suit)

-All OOT bag items (survival kits, insulated mugs, decks of cards, door hangers, gum) have been purchased except snacks (I don't want them to get stale)

-All centerpiece items and chair sashes have been purchased. i am renting glass vases from the resort and bringing aqua stones, fake orchids, floating candles to put inside. The vases will sit on brown "fishing net" scattered with seashells that I am also bringing.

-All guests are booked/rooms are paid

-Wedding bands have been purchased and picked up

-Bridesmaid/Groomsmen outfits purchased (coral sundresses and aqua linen shirts with khakis)

-Bridesmaid/Groomsmen gifts purchased (embroidered beach towels and beach bags, engraved buck knives)

-Parent Gifts purchased (picture frames from etsy)

-Guest book purchased (coffee table book of Jamaica)

-Hostess gifts purchased (custom embroidered wine bags from etsy)

-Customs thank you notes purchased

-Marriage license info sent to resort

-STD and Invitations mailed

One of the things left on my list is music. Are you girls using a DJ? If so, are you giving them a list of every song to play or just telling them what kind of music you like and letting them choose songs? Also, I still haven't made programs. Do any of you girls have  template for a simple program? I am not trying to put a bunch of notes and information on them, I just want a list of the wedding party/minister/music.

Thanks!!

Madison

I checked out her etsy shop and she has a lot of cute stuff!  Which necklace did you decide on?  It is so hard for me to visulaize what the necklaces would look like with my dress!
The jewelry I ordered came today and I love it!! She included the earrings for free since I ordered a bracelet and necklace!

We have 46 guests booked.  My RSVP data was April 1 and so many people have not rsvp'd.  The worst part is that I waited until the RSVP to start my OOT bags because I didn't want to buy anything in excess.  I have now ordered the bags and started to purchase the items.  Suddenly we heard from people who are still "thinking about it" - I mean, almost 20 possible guests! I have two girlfriends who are teachers.  I understand their schedule will not be released until end of April but everyone else has no excuse.. I just think they don't realize what it takes to plan this.  If I run out of bags, is that ok to explain to them they were ordered a week after the RSVP date and we just didn't know they had plans to join us?  Or do I have to go out of my way to make them OOT bags?

Anyone going through that??

I'm late to this party (as usual), but our RSVP date was March 1st and we still have people "thinking about it"...INCLUDING MY GRANDMOTHER.  Now she's over 90 years old so I won't be offended if she decides not to make the trip...but I kind of need to know one way or the other.  People are just rude.  And I have no problem saying that because I've mever been inconsiderate enough to ignore an invitation to something - and if i happened to forget and got reminded, I would apologize profusely!  Not ignore!  But what can you do?

Like everyone else said, not worth it!  Those who are they will want to be there.  I planned my OOT bags really early on (bc I sewed them myself and they were a huge pain in the *ss), so I have a lot of extra stuff.  If I didn't, I'd just give the late responders a smaller or different bag with whatever I had left or felt like scrounging up.  Maybe with a little note on etiquette.  Hahaha.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
