June 2013 brides- what are you doing?

Recommended Posts

Hi Catgirl! Don't worry. You still have two months. As far as the actual wedding stuff goes, Alejandra will take care of everything so you don't have to worry about decorations. Programs are easy peasy, just go to vistaprint and pick out a pre-designed one, fill in some info and you're good. I wouldn't worry about the OOT bags. They are a "nice-to-give", but not a necessity. You can show your guests your appreciation in another way with a favor. My fi and I will be getting down there the 8th, a whole week before and actually staying on 5th avenue the first two nights so that we can get all of our "last-minute" shopping done. Did you want me to grab anything for you? I know you get there on Thursday and the wedding is Friday. I could pick stuff up for you and that way, it's all there at the resort when you check in. They also have a Wal-Mart near by that I'm planning on going to as well. I could pick stuff up for you there too if you'd like? I.e. I could grab some favors on fifth avenue (maracas?) and could grab candles and stuff at Wal-Mart and you could just pay me back when you get to Mexico. If they have a chalk-board at Wal-Mart, I could grab that for you too and you could just write your program on that. We went to a wedding in Wisconsin last fall that did that and it was really cool. Probably saved them some $$ on programs too. Haha...maybe you can move the wedding to the Sunday (16th) so then you could just use all my stuff since we're getting married there on the 15th. Kidding, but if it was a possibility, I'd be more than happy to help you out there too. Oh and if you wanted to get some stuff ahead of time, but aren't sure about the head count, maybe you could just round up to a safe estimate. That's what we had to do and it's worked. Most of the stuff you need to order in bulk will have pre-determined quantities anyways, so just go for the size that will give you a buffer if you have more than anticipated. Anyways, even though we haven't officially "met", we're getting married at the same resort a day apart so I feel like we've met in a kismet sort of way. That being said, I'd be happy to help you out since i'll be down there a whole week prior and will be doing shopping myself so I'd be happy to grab some for you as well. Honestly, it's not a hassle for me and I'd love to help out a fellow Iberostar bride :) This is time you should be enjoying, not stressing, so let me know if i can help! Take care :) -Jessica
Hi Jessica! I'm a June 15th bride up the beach at the Gran Porto Real and I'm arriving the 12th. I know it will be chaos but if you're out and about in Playa the 8th do you think you could let me know if you find any fushcia, orange and purple maracas at a reasonable price? Also if cases of water at Walmart aren't outrageously prices? Thanks so much!

Hey there! I can take a look for ya and let you know what I find. I'm almost 100% sure you can find the maracas in that color. I read online that there are a TON of vendors selling this on 5th avenue. I think they were around $1 - 1.50/maraca, but if you buy in bulk I'm sure you could talk them down.

Either way, I'll keep my eyes pealed on the 8th and give an update on here of where to find them. I'll also look at the price of water for you...great idea!

Thank you so much, Jessica.  I am a little teary eyed.  :)

I appreciate it.  I am spending tonight getting my head wrapped around everything and have lists galore surrounding me.  :)

Since Jessica had our date reserved at the Tucan, we almost went with the GPR.  :)  I love that resort too.

It's a great resort and I love the staff there.  One of my best trips to playa (and there have been lots of them).  :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
