June 2013 brides- what are you doing?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

Does anyone have a legit wedding checklist? I've gotten a ton of stuff done already, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything and the checklists I'm finding online aren't detailed, it's just the "duh" stuff like, "get wedding dress, send invitations, duh duh duh".

Haha...Megan, I feel like you are the queen of organization on this thread. If you have any lists you want to share, please post them and anyone else for that matter.

Are you guys flying with everything or shipping down some items? I can't decide. I have a ton of centerpiece stuff, signs, programs...oh my god, I'm just realizing the huge pile of wedding stuff in my apartment is going to somehow need to make it to Mexico. I just keep adding to it, mindlessly not taking the size of the pile into consideration. But now that I'm picturing how much it's taking up a corner of a room and how big the pile really is..haha...this may be interesting. HA!

Yay for Friday! :)

Haha you crack me up! I definitely do have a pretty legit list. Im on my phone andI don't have it on my phone but I will post a link to it today at some point. I have a very similar corner of "stuff" that I'm looking at saying... Ok stop buying stuff!! Haha. I am definitely not shipping anything bc I have heard its very risky with customs and duty taxes and most importantly time! I've heard it can take anywhere from the normal week to 2 weeks and then I've heard it can out of the blue take more than a month! Can you imagine if you things didn't get there? I'd cry!! I plan to pack wayy before I actually go and weigh every bag to make sure it's not over weight limit. Then rearrange as necessary and if its still too much, just ask friends and family to take a bag or so each as necessary. My hope is that there will be enough people to go around that we won't have to pay a bag fee for anyone to bring an "extra" bag. Hopefully that will work out!! Like I said, Ill get that list posted today at some point. :)

I think I might be done ordering for our OOT bags after a bit of a spending spree online tonight ordering the sunglasses, koozies and decks of playing cards for the bags. I also ordered the template for our menus and have been looking for shoes online. I had ordered a pair but didn't like them so sent them back. Now lets hope I make some money this weekend, I'm on call all weekend, hence the online shopping on Friday night:)

I think I am starting to officially freak out.  I am no where near as prepared as you ladies.  The wedding is June 14 and nothing is done or started.  I don't even have headcounts yet, as we keep chasing peeps.

I need to order my dress, the girls dresses, start on the programs, OOT bags, menus, etc.

I am so overwhelmed.  Why did I think I could pull this off?  We got engaged in November, moved across country in February, spent time out of the country and still have crazy busy jobs.

Ugh.

We've got this girly!! We still have time! I'm June 15th and we were engaged in October...baby steps! It's helping me to write out EVERYTHING in lists...no matter how small or trivial it may seem! That way it's there and I feel so good when I can put checks next to a few a day (even if they're tiny things that need to get done! Lol)...everyone laughs at me for toting this notebook and list around but I panic when I don't have it! Lol

I have a notebook now too. I was brain dumping on the 15 hour flight from New Zealand. :) I can't believe it is so close!!!

We are getting married at the Iberostar Tucan. We arrive into CUN around 10:00 am on June 12. How about you? :)
We are June 14 too! We also arrive the 12th. I don't think we get in until 11ish though! ;-)

Hi Catgirl! Don't worry. You still have two months. As far as the actual wedding stuff goes, Alejandra will take care of everything so you don't have to worry about decorations. Programs are easy peasy, just go to vistaprint and pick out a pre-designed one, fill in some info and you're good. I wouldn't worry about the OOT bags. They are a "nice-to-give", but not a necessity. You can show your guests your appreciation in another way with a favor. My fi and I will be getting down there the 8th, a whole week before and actually staying on 5th avenue the first two nights so that we can get all of our "last-minute" shopping done. Did you want me to grab anything for you? I know you get there on Thursday and the wedding is Friday. I could pick stuff up for you and that way, it's all there at the resort when you check in. They also have a Wal-Mart near by that I'm planning on going to as well. I could pick stuff up for you there too if you'd like? I.e. I could grab some favors on fifth avenue (maracas?) and could grab candles and stuff at Wal-Mart and you could just pay me back when you get to Mexico. If they have a chalk-board at Wal-Mart, I could grab that for you too and you could just write your program on that. We went to a wedding in Wisconsin last fall that did that and it was really cool. Probably saved them some $$ on programs too.

Haha...maybe you can move the wedding to the Sunday (16th) so then you could just use all my stuff since we're getting married there on the 15th. Kidding, but if it was a possibility, I'd be more than happy to help you out there too.

Oh and if you wanted to get some stuff ahead of time, but aren't sure about the head count, maybe you could just round up to a safe estimate. That's what we had to do and it's worked. Most of the stuff you need to order in bulk will have pre-determined quantities anyways, so just go for the size that will give you a buffer if you have more than anticipated.

Anyways, even though we haven't officially "met", we're getting married at the same resort a day apart so I feel like we've met in a kismet sort of way. That being said, I'd be happy to help you out since i'll be down there a whole week prior and will be doing shopping myself so I'd be happy to grab some for you as well. Honestly, it's not a hassle for me and I'd love to help out a fellow Iberostar bride :) This is time you should be enjoying, not stressing, so let me know if i can help!

Take care :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
