June 2013 brides- what are you doing?

Recommended Posts

Sorry on my phone it just clicked me through! But trying to say honestly we are spending more than I thought having a DW wedding. But we did things like first class tickets and nicer room, plus wanting to get our guests fun and usable stuff for the welcome bags...but our budget adds in everything from postage to airport transfers. And we are still under our original budget...I just thought DW were cheaper! :)

I live in NYC and let me tell you, it's insane! The article is pretty on point, however for the NYC portion that's based on getting married in Manhattan. Doing anything on the island of Manhattan is inherently more expensive so a bride can get married in a borough for less but it's still more expensive. That's why we are doing a DW!

I actually emailed my mother this morning to tell her that we need to get together to figure out what we have done and what still needs to be done. I still haven't found my OOT bags but have started to buy things for them, I know that I need to still try to figure out table centerpieces. I hate that I have a ton of ideas and haven't finalized anything yet bc I still think I have a ton of time but really I don't! One thing that I really need to start focusing on is the ceremony. What are most of you girls doing for the ceremony...are you coming up with your own script? If so is there somewhere that has some suggestions as to what it should look like??
I asked my WC for a copy of the words and boy oh boy am I happy I did because WOW! Lol! Needless to say I'm changing a lot of it and correcting grammar etc so our guests understand what's being said! Lol
No kidding!!! The script from our resort (Azul Sensatori) is awful.... I did a complete revamp and actually just sent it off to my WC for approval yesterday. We are doing a legal ceremony which is not supposed to be altered at all, so I really hope they approve it!

The bridal salon called and said my dress should be here by the end of this month! I am so nervous cause I havent tried it on since August of last year!! And it has been a rollercoaster of "did i pick too fancy of a dress" "should i have gottens omething more beachy" "Is it even me?!" it drove me crazy!!  I hope i love it as much as i did that day!
Good luck! You will love it. I thought the same thing when I went for my first fitting but as soon as I put it in I remembered I looooooved it! :)

Lol that's why I love this forum... The script was something I thought about before I even put a deposit down but then there are soo many other things that I wouldn't have thought of if not for you girls! :)

So Ladies- what is everyone doing at the moment? I am actually a May bride:

My OOT are pretty much near completion- not worried about them at this point.

My first dress fitting is in 2 weeks. Scared to death about this one!!

Buying the groom and best man suits next weekend.

Taking dance lessons- and trying to finalize all the music choices.

Flowers picked and ordered - some from the resort and some real touch.

I am trying to get started on orgnazing schedule and activities from the time people arrive until the honeymoon.

I have shoes- hope they work, no earrnigs yet.

Shower/Bachelorette party planned.

I am stressed that I havent started creating programs or menus or done ANYTHING on vistaprint. I paid for my invitations and STD from sellers.

What am I NOT doing that I SHOULD be?

Music? For the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing? I've just spent some time starting it and it's a lot easier then I thought it would be. I still have a ways to go but I love music so it's definitely not as scary as a task as I thought it would be.

Good Luck!

My FI and I are big music ppl and bc of that I don't even want to START music..., its so overwhelming to me bc there are so many options and choices and I like them all!! Lol I'm about to just pick the main dance selections and then just give my DJ free range and say go for it!...

I honestly came away from this weekend feeling like I got nothing done for the wedding. However, when I take closer look, in addition to working 15+ hours, meeting my in-laws for brunch, and taking our little boy to get his very first haircut, I:

-created DIY Tears of Joy Tissue packs... check those out here http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/85400/my-diy-tears-of-joy-tissue-packs-with-pics

-bought and got embroidered robes for myself and my girls to get ready in

-ordered both sets of parents' gifts

-ordered bridal party necklaces

-made our final room payment

-finished our ceremony script and sent it to the WC for approval

-bought beautiful centerpiece picture holders that will serve to hold the table number, menu, and "I Spy" picture game cards along side the actual centerpiece. I will post pics later today here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84991/diy-table-number-alternative

I feel like there are a couple other things, but I guess this is most of what I got accomplished which I actually feel pretty good about. I still just feel like there is SO much and fewer and fewer weekends... I am 10 days away from 2 digit countdown....!! WOW!!!

What did you girls accomplish this weekend??

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
