June 2013 brides- what are you doing?

Recommended Posts

Thanks ladies for the sympathy about the reception. I'm waiting on an answer back from the coordinator about what she suggests for dancing. In her last e,ail she said she could quote me on cocktail and dancing but I don't even know if that would be before or after the dinner. And obviously it's going to cost even more money than the private dinner is already costing us. I just wish they were a little more up front with me about the reception options...I know I'm not the only bride who's unhappy with the Riu Mexico right now. I know it'll all be fine in the end...I actually and really relaxed about the wedding and planning, I was just kinda counting on drinks and dancing. Like my sister said, we may just end up with an iPod and making our own beach party and drinking the all inclusive drinks ( and that's not a bad idea)!

I'm not at your resort but I'm finding the honestly level to be a bit "off" at ours too! All to nickel and dime us! And when I ask a very simple point-blank-bottom-line question requiring a simple answer they still seem to skirt around it. Very frustrating! I know once we get down there it will all be fabulous...if I have any hair left from pulling it all out by then! Lolol

i was no help on where to shop, i just realized.  haha. sorry.

lol that's hilarious! but hey- if you can afford to buy that high end....lol. my FI is not super picky, but we saw pics from one wedding where the men bought from studio suits and my FI said they looked frumpy. Then we saw another wedding where the men also bought from there and he thought they looked great. So far, Studio Suits is  looking like our choice bc as long as we order early enough we can find something else if they don't look good. Good luck with your selections!

(he has groomsmen from Alaska, so they pretty much have to order since we dont really have many stores up there)...He has them wearing dark gray pants, vest, white shirt with rolled up sleeves and a tie...then he will wear the same suit except in light gray and he bought the jacket. (His own preference, but he looks great in it!)

It is sort of like this idea....700

He bought them all white casual shoes like these as well...and my main color is peach, so they will have peach ties. He paid for the shoes and ties and the guys will pay for the pants, vest and shirt which brings their total to less than 150 each.

There is another forum on here I cant remember the name but i think it is custom linen suits...They were great priced and everyone had great reviews on here from them..check it out. My FI just did not want linen. (He has been a groomsmen in two other DW and just didnt want to do it again I guess. I think he sees this type of suit more re-wearable later on).

I love this look! Honestly, that was another thing my FI did mention- when will we wear linen again? Hmm... decisions.... decisions!

Sadly, I feel like I have to agree. I feel like it's half an "honesty" issue and half a "secrecy" issue. There are so many times when there were options, choices, etc that I didn't even know existed until I read them on here. Instead of being up front with things I feel like I have to know what to ask which is really hard. I also feel the same as you- even when I ask a very specific question I don't always get an answer (or I get conflicting answers).

Oh well.. I have to say that all in all planning is very fun and I do feel like it will all come together in the end. There are so many brides that have said it does come together and it feels perfect. :) I really can't wait... June will be here before we know it!

Good luck with everything!

I wish I could convince my fiance to wear a vest but he gave me a firm NO on that one. He did agree to a tie which is good enough. I'd really like to try to find grey linen pants for the guys; white shirts for them and then a pink/blue tie for my fiance. (the girls are wearing Navy/Pink)

I'm gonna look around the internet for grey linen but if anyone has seen them anywhere pass the info along please!

Hi Ladies, I'm having a hard time with shoes!  My dress is ivory/champagne and the material is lace.  I can't find elegant wedges!  Any suggestions?  I don't mind flipflops as the party progresses but I would really like to walk down the aisle wearing heels (my walk will be on grass, sand, then concrete).

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
