Our room block contract ends in April, but guests can continue to reserve after that, it will just be whatever price the hotel is offering then. However, I have put April 1st as my RSVP date because I need to finalize things like favors, budget (have to pay for over 40 guests extra) and welcome bags. Im really hoping everyone who is a maybe will either get on it or let me know after they receive the invites in a few weeks.

Also our resort (LAME) wont allow us to have two different food options, everyone eats the same meal unless they are vegetarian or allergic so that wasn't a prob for me.

And finally the resort has sent us all the options to start customizing so the stress I was feeling last week is getting better! Lol

That is awesome you are getting your dress so quick!! I ordered mine in August last year and I called the other day and it still wont be here until end of March. Im starting to forget what it even looks like anymore! i sure hope i still love it.

Wow! No menu choice? That would scare me I think! Hopefully I don't run into that! I'm thinking of taking the lantern route too but hope the wind doesn't take them off the tables ;) And yes I was shocked that my dress will be here in February! I'm praying I still like it and I really need to lose a ton of weight so time to get cracking on that too! Lol

Hi Ladies,

I love this thread! Whoever created it is a genius :). We're getting married June 15th at the Iberostar Tucan, same as Catgirl (hi!).

What legal documents do we need to bring to get married in Mexico? I've read yes to birth certifcates (also read somewhere that those are supposed to be translated), but also no to them.

Also, what are you guys doing for centerpieces? I read on another forum that girls are using the paper lanterns since they're easy to pack...could do some cute stuff with those, but would love to hear your all's ideas.

Congrats to all of you!!!

Congrats, Jessica!  I'm also getting married on June 15 at Marina El Cid!

Wow, this thread is intimidating! I guess I should get planning! I'm collecting stuff for my OOT bags, booked the photographer and have a dress. I'm wondering how far in advance people start shopping for wedding bands?

I'm also under the impression the wedding planner at the resort will take care of the decorations, food, and cake, but is there more I should be doing?

Thanks!

Thanks!

FI and I bought our wedding bands last fall - he got my ring at Cartier, which means the bands needed to come from Cartier, and we were trying to beat their price raise (which they apparently do twice a year).  Mostly I just wanted to get the expense off my plate.

I think if not for that we might have waited until 3 months before the wedding or so?  But I'm really not sure what is typical.

We got our bands in November. We also wanted to get it out of the way!

I think all resorts are different but mine has a wedding guide and we can chose food, cake, etc.

Hi! We are thinking about shopping for bands around Feb-March. I dont think there has to be any rush really on those, unless something as mentioned above occurs like a sale or if you are getting it custom.

At my resort the "basic decorations" included in the package are okay- but there are some things Im working on at home like centerpieces. The one they offer is basically a candle with a christmasy type pine around it. Um NO! :) So ill be bringing those with me, as well as things to add to the ceremony and reception like favors, more decoration, doing a memoriam table so gathering a few old picture frames, things to go with my theme....right now im working on getting bridesmaid gifts ordered, my invitations should be here soon and then ill address them and get them out...I have my FI working on the music playlist for - background type music throughout dinner as well as the dancing music.  We ordered our groomsmen gifts and outfits *everything but the tie- this last weekend.  Also got my welcome bags so now trying to get together everything to go in them while staying on budget.

Im also making my own bouquet so working on getting all that together. And then ofcourse just making sure guests are getting all the help they need in booking and getting plane tickets.

It really is up to you how much you want to add or plan on top of what the hotel does.  I have seen DW where the bride basically just shows up and others where they bring or purchase a ton of upgrades- so up to you!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
