We're counting the maracas as favors for guests. I'm trying to figure out how to arrange them as a place setting as well. We may place them stick end up in baskets for each table but I'm still playing around with that. I think I also figured out our centerpieces this week. Tall-ish cylindrical vases filled with water, with stones on bottom and a silk lily with a floating candle on top. Also going to place small votives around it on the table. Simple and inexpensive and the silk flowers look amazingly real when in the water!

Finally getting somewhere! People are booking slowly but surely! They have a "cut off" date of February 1st to put a deposit down on their rooms so hopefully we won't have to yell at anyone ;) Found my dress today on the first try and it should be here February! And finally the resort has sent us all the options to start customizing so the stress I was feeling last week is getting better! Lol

My invites are on their way to my house to be addressed...any of  you brides have any tips on making the addresses "pretty"? My handwriting is not too great and I am hoping I can do some sort of tracing type thing. When are you having your guests RSVP by?
I know "etiquette" says that you should hand write the addresses but I honestly don't care about that! There is no way I was going to sit there and write out 150 addresses. I just printed address labels. I doubt anyone will even care that it isn't hand written! I just sent our invites last week. Asking for RSVP by March 14th. 3 months before the wedding. I need some time to do things with a head count so my rsvp is kinda early. The way I see it, most people should know if they are going to Mexico 3 months prior, if you don't, you more than likely aren't coming.

Do y'all have to tell your resorts a final head count ridiculously early? I have to tell them April 12th I believe...which I know we should know by then but it makes the invites have to go out earlier than usual and I haven't figured out menus etc for RSVP cards so I wish they'd push that date back a bit!

Mine needs to know 45 days prior, so like the end of April. I just picked 2 entrees that sounded the best to us and put those choices on the rsvp card. Everyone will get them same app/salad, etc. They'll just pick their entree.

Hi Ladies,

I love this thread! Whoever created it is a genius :). We're getting married June 15th at the Iberostar Tucan, same as Catgirl (hi!).

What legal documents do we need to bring to get married in Mexico? I've read yes to birth certifcates (also read somewhere that those are supposed to be translated), but also no to them.

Also, what are you guys doing for centerpieces? I read on another forum that girls are using the paper lanterns since they're easy to pack...could do some cute stuff with those, but would love to hear your all's ideas.

Congrats to all of you!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
