June 2013 brides- what are you doing?

Recommended Posts

Wow - I also thought I was ahead of the game till I came on here.  I just bought my dress yesterday which has put me in a total high.  Other than that we're just in the middle of all of the legal paperwork to get married out of the country.  We have the birth certificates, passport renewals have been sent.  We're just getting stuck on the documentation that we're both single.  Has anyone else had to do this?  We're stuck on trying to figure out how to prove this.

Hi Ladies!! I thought I better get in on this thread cause my mother keeps saying "You better start planning girl!"

So far we have 35 guests booked, with a maybe list of about 15-20.  For your OOT bags are you guys doing one for each person or each room?

I think I am going to do one for each room to save money on the bags themselves (plus we have a lot of couples going and Im sure the men do not want or need a reusable bag) cheesy.gif  Still place things for two (or three) in the bag, but only do one.

So far I have got my dress, picked out the bms dresses, picked my colors, reserved the DJ and photographer, reserved the reception location, decided on a "theme", sent out STDs with a wedding website, etc.

Currently I am trying to work out flowers and prices with the resort (because I know this is another big cost and need to budget accordingly) so hoping that will be done soon!

I like the idea to send out invites in Jan. I was thinking it was too early, but April is our blocked room cut off so I guess I better get going on those. Still havent decided whether to get them made or DIY.

Right now I am working on fun themed do not disturb tags for the welcome bags...I have decided to make myself a brooch bouquet so I am in the first stages of that.

I have my plans all written down and ready to go, however I am finding that my resort takes FOREVER to respond to anything (it took the last two months to figure out the photo and DJ which are hired through the resort) so I have to wait on flowers and prices for the cocktail party etc before i can really purchase anything else. But it will give my guests a little more time to reserve!

Thanks for all the info here! I feel like i need to get moving today on my DIY stuff!!

Oh Jamie we are getting married in the states first and just doing a symbolic ceremony...however I have hired a pastor (he is a missionary living in Punta Cana) to do our service so that I have the religious aspects that are very important to me! So I havent had to deal with any of the paperwork.

I'm not sure exactly where they are, but if you search for kids' activity books (or probably just activity books), there are some good ones on this site!  I think the ones I've seen have been in the wedding planning journal forum.

Ok I'm sick now! I am a May 2013 bride. I have sent the STD's and booked the photographer. Dress shopping next week. Have a couple items for OOT bags and chair sashes bought. I picked my colors- yellow and gray. That's it! I am looking for invitations. I am guessing if I send them in November then I can ask for an RSVP in February or March?

I personally wouldn't send them in November - I could be wrong, but I'd be so worried about it getting lost in the holiday cards and mail.  I think just after the new year would be better if you want a February or March RSVP date.  :)  Good luck!

I have my venue, photographer, and florist booked, save the dates sent out, and I finally settled on a dress!  But honestly, I haven't done any wedding planning in a months (this is my first time on this site since like, July).  I plan on sending out invitations and getting a final headcount in February / March 2013.  I'll also finish up the other things I need to do then:

  • Write our ceremony!!!
  • Book our plane tickets to Mexico
  • Finalize headcount and menu with venue
  • Figure out what accessories I'm wearing
  • Fiancé needs to figure out his whole outfit
  • Order invitations and thank-you cards
  • Music - we still need to decide if we're doing DJ or band and book, plus make a playlist for them
  • Put together and send out travel info packet for all our guests on things to do, places to eat, etc.
  • Figure out the day's schedule

Am I forgetting anything???  I'm not doing OOT bags or having any bridesmaids / groomsmen, so that's a lot of things off my list.

Sounds like you're on the ball!  Hey I'm in NYC too - maybe we should try to meet up for coffee at some point and brainstorm!  (That is definitely something I'm not looking forward to.)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
