Wedding Dress Prices?

  • 2 weeks later...

I voted 1000-2000 range. I told myself i was not going to spend more than $750 for a dress I would only wear once. I was very naive, wasn't I!doh.gif I found a dress I loved for $900, not to over budget. But wait, it was made of satin and very very heavy. The sales lady said she could have it made of taffeta, very light weight fabric. Wow that sounded perfect. Now how about making the train a little shorter. Now my $900 is $1300 OTD. Almost twice what I had budgeted! Aren't I a bargain shopper. S&M.gif Oh well, I love the dress. Now if it will just come in.

I really fot fustrated trying on dresses at shops, my friend dragged me out several times at the beginning of the summer.. It was hot and ugly, I made her buy me a glass of wine to calm me down after.

I went online found a dress and I am having this lovely lady who comes with amazing recommendations make my dress... I am laughing $210 with the material included she works at fabricland and is getting the fabric for her employee cost.

The dress would have costed $500 online.Photo

From the very beginning I wanted to spend $5,000 on my dress. I guess it's because around that time I started watching Say Yes To The Dress and the only dresses they were showing were in that range.

My budget has since dropped to no more than $3,500 since my dad will be paying for my dress. Now with everyone's posts about the prices and budgets, I don't know if maybe my price is set too high. I want a very pretty dress and thought you had to spend at least 2 grand to get it.

Since I'm starting my wedding dress shopping in about a week I really need to get it together. Thanks for everyone's input.smile03.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
